Could use an email feature up against a phone #.
But this is really cool. Nice, simple, and not annoying to use. Doesn't get in the way of the persons work.

I thought the intent was to get status and who is available for freelance work?

CuriousGeorge, those site are primarily for creating an online presense or portfolio. This site is more about efficient searching. It's like google, but all results point to you and offer a snapshot of you and your work. In fact, I see Graphik Index as pushing more traffic to those sites you mentioned, rather than stealng it.
More to come..

@SteveJobs: Any site used to promote your work. B.ehance, C.argo, Virb, Krop, etc, etc...
People mainly use these sites for ease of use, but they also use it do to the higher potential of exposure.

no, there won't be a dedicated page for portfolio's. all content will remain inline. however, i am toying with the idea of allowing profiles to be deeplinked so google can find you guys better. not sure of any negative implications here
- JSK0
Make sure you dont fall in to "portfolio" site trap. This is still a directory.

@registe
the format won't really change, just the landing page. it's an opportunity to show off nice profiles, get them a little exposure, and give the site a little more of a nice look with some good work. or as JSK calls it, curating. right now it's a bit dry.i'll probably start a new thread and post a comp soon (as it's no longer a 24hr project) so you can all see the direction i'm taking this.

@CuriousGeorge
good question. i'll probably place some unobtrusive ads to pay for bandwidth usage, and if i get enough traffic, perhaps offer a subscription for those who want to display higher-res content or maybe get higher placement in search results similar to the sortfolio model. the intent of the site, however will remain as another venue for exposure and a launchpad to your site or krop portfolio or whatever.- Good luck. The sandbox you're playing in is very over saturated already. Traffic is going to be the key to your success.CuriousGeorge
- thanks, who do you see as the main contenders?SteveJobs

Have you thought about how you're going to monetize the site? Kind of seems like a huge was of time otherwise.

- Then why even bother?CuriousGeorge

zoom feature would be nice.
- JSK0
when are you going to start curating? Already junk up there.
- JSK0
you know the small grey text is really really hard to read
- SteveJobs0
yeah, my only issue with a specialties/categories list is that it needs to be comprehensive so as not to inadvertently exclude anyone who would otherwise fit their intended criteria.
how many different titles are there?
- dbloc0
the page numbers on the top right look like they belong to the first profile...might want to somehow differentiate.
- SteveJobs0
ok, i've got a new comp i'm working on that i think everyone will REALLY like. it features some new pieces for the landing page including a featured profile section, a showcase of selected works, and a few other surprises.
that's just ui, though. I've got a slew of ideas for ux features I can add to enhance search and ways to make the site more intuitive to help get you referals.
however, what i need right now is one thing: more profiles. this is a very opportune time now, because i've just taken some time off work to focus on personal projects and now i'm trying to figure out where this project should be placed in terms of priority.
any ideas how i can get this in front of more design / photography / illustration / motion / etc. folks?
- dbloc0
I will be adding soon.

ha haa...the twitter birds made it!
