If this was to work, the users should have the ability to add their availability.
Example:
MrHansFeler
- Off site (global)
- Years of experience
- Available nights and weekend
- Limited availability for meetings and calls during the day
- Skill sets x years (from selection list)- and filter them by thisJSK
- i like this. very good sifting filterregiste
- Experience is already summed up in Bio and Client info. Availability isn't specifically useful if people are approaching you for problem solving.
MrAbominable - it's useful in a busy freelance schedule, text field would get cut off in this list fashionregiste
- always assume that users are dumb and add unnecessary info which most may not care forJSK
- I really like this sort of idea.Continuity

Forgot to add color dots to show availability
Green dot - available right now
Engagement length - 2 weeks to 6 weeks or longerYellow dot - will be available in 3 weeks
Engagement length - depending on project and scheduleRed dot - not available until Oct 2011
Engagement length - 2 - 4 weeks.
- JSK0
Blue dot - available depend on project
---------------
Also ability to filter by availability

awesome idea :-)

If none of these filtering or sorting functions are there, its nothing more than a Krop / b3hance portfolio host. On top of the stuff mentioned above.
Filter by industry
Filter by location
Filter by rate range
Filter by skills
Filter by client / brand
Filter by years
etcAlso, hate to say it, it should be curated. The down side of a lot of these sites are that, there are a lot of junk portfolio.
And fact check the portfolio uploader to confirm that they actually worked on the stuff they post. And exactly what they did.

In essence you are making a collective talent agency which has high caliber people on it.
Add contractual agreement policy and act as a manager, you are making money.
I want my $$$ for these ideas. Thanks. Email me with your paypay payment.
- SteveJobs0
you're right about it being curated. it's important that the first profiles you see when you hit the page are exemplary of the kind of work available. this also puts the onus on me to provide some kind of sorting functionality in their so you can put your best works in front of the rest.
And you're right about the filter. I had considered this earlier during concept, and might still add these into the search, but I'm just waiting to get as much feedback as possible. will probably also need to set up some kind of analytics to see what the end user thinks as well later on..
anyway, good feedback JSK.
- maybe build your proximity in there to show more localized profiles on page visitregiste

Filtering should always be hidden or as an advanced option with search. People sometimes search by name or etc.
Curation would be tough as you have to make sure you cut out people even if they are your friends.
You will become the most hated person in QBN !
Win win. There is a long term money making. There is no good high caliber creative talent site out there.
- JSK0
^ different type of mode I would suspect. Most people would go there to browse talents. Understand what they want and narrow their selection.
While search could enhance the functional aspect of it, it doesnt give the users a chance to explore the talent or new talent.
BUT it took a while for me to understand the top UI. I completely missed it until I looked for it.

Would be nice to click on the thumbnails and enlarge the image. Also when adding info have a character limit counter so you know how much or how little to enter.
As JSK mentioned, filtering is going to be needed.
- no bigger images, get those images at your supplied url
please god no lightboxregiste - +1 with registe. having thumbnails only serves well to drive traffic to private sites or ask for addl portfolio material.MrAbominable
- I hate clicking to a site and then having to dig for things... most sites don't get you there quick enough. If they do then that's fine.bzsaw
- ... then that's fine.bzsaw
- no bigger images, get those images at your supplied url
- SteveJobs0
yeah, i don't want to do any kind of lightboxing. the idea is to get viewer from my site to yours as quickly as possible. the gallery provides a snapshot of your work and style, the info to better assess your experience and the your url/contact info to get them in touch with you. this *can* be expanded on in a later phase, and most likely will be after i've received sufficient feedback, but my goal is to keep it simple.
- SteveJobs0
and @registe, yes, i have the all the components i need to set up ip detection and pre-filter for proximity, as well as provide location as a search option. currently marked as a todo
- cool, just a suggestion as i saw you had mentioned it earlier in the thread, over all an idea i likeregiste
- What about those of us who want to be found by interested parties outside our geographic area?Continuity
- search i presume will still provide accurate resultsregiste
- kalkal0
ok, who is this Sample guy? His work is amazing.
- dbloc0
cool. first though with the little nav circles was that it would move to the next set of images. That part doesn't seem very elegant.
I guess you'll be adding details as you go. For something done in 24hrs this is ace! Good job!

Can't upload anything, any size, on mac/firefox.
Switched to Safari, only to find that I've already forgot my password and there's no way of retrieving it.
Bummers.
- SteveJobs0
Peter, check your mail. Upload should be working, however.
- akrok0
thx, stevejobs. :-)
- jadrian_uk0
Ability to filter custom made filters
- SteveJobs0
^ can you expand on that? and good idea, wishlist items would be a big help right now. and +1 from any who support that idea.
btw, there are a LOT more sign-ups than what's shown right now. you have to upload images for your profile to be active. you also have to verify your email (check your spam mail).
