when are you going to start curating? Already junk up there.

^ can you expand on that? and good idea, wishlist items would be a big help right now. and +1 from any who support that idea.
btw, there are a LOT more sign-ups than what's shown right now. you have to upload images for your profile to be active. you also have to verify your email (check your spam mail).

thx, good feedback. i know there's a lot of potential for this site - i've got a ton of ideas on how to expand it, yet keep it simple, but i want to see if anyone's actually interested in this before investing much more of my time. people are SO hard to motivate, so it might take some time to get traction.

zoom feature would be nice.

ha haa...the twitter birds made it!

Have you thought about how you're going to monetize the site? Kind of seems like a huge was of time otherwise.

Can't upload anything, any size, on mac/firefox.
Switched to Safari, only to find that I've already forgot my password and there's no way of retrieving it.
Bummers.

Peter, check your mail. Upload should be working, however.

@CuriousGeorge
good question. i'll probably place some unobtrusive ads to pay for bandwidth usage, and if i get enough traffic, perhaps offer a subscription for those who want to display higher-res content or maybe get higher placement in search results similar to the sortfolio model. the intent of the site, however will remain as another venue for exposure and a launchpad to your site or krop portfolio or whatever.- Good luck. The sandbox you're playing in is very over saturated already. Traffic is going to be the key to your success.CuriousGeorge
- thanks, who do you see as the main contenders?SteveJobs

Out of curiosity, are you allowing search engines to index profiles, or no?
- no seo work has been done *yet*. admittedly, that's one area i need help in. trooperbill, where are you?!SteveJobs
- I'd actually rather there wasn't any profile indexing. :\Continuity

@registe
the format won't really change, just the landing page. it's an opportunity to show off nice profiles, get them a little exposure, and give the site a little more of a nice look with some good work. or as JSK calls it, curating. right now it's a bit dry.i'll probably start a new thread and post a comp soon (as it's no longer a 24hr project) so you can all see the direction i'm taking this.

Nice idea indeed. I'll sign up when the kinks ^ are all near worked out.
Do bump.

yeah not crazy about the div cutoff either. But without text metrics, it's hard to be truly efficient with that space, so even with a shorter maxlength, a string with mostly wider characters will go beyond the limit. kinda like the comment boxes to the right here>. You just have to feel it out.
i fixed the issue with the link. was just setting lnks to relative if http protocol wasn't prepended.

Make sure you dont fall in to "portfolio" site trap. This is still a directory.
