Well, I see that as a good! Knowing what you don't want is an excellent way to position yourself. It also gives the designer more freedom. The alternate situation would be a client telling you everything they want, even if it goes against everything you believe in as a designer. So, stop whining and get working!

There are known knowns and known unknowns, then there are unknown unknowns. Listen champ *bites into tuna sandwich*, all I know is I scored 4 touchdowns once in a high school football game and I don't like this design.

I don't mind giving my designer's a lot of freedom as long as they can justify the choices they make. They can't be random choices, they need to tie in and represent something that is important about the subject. The explanation of these choices is very important for clients that think like the title of this thread.
