"‘On Facebook I overshare. On Twitter, I undershare. If Google hits that spot in the middle, we can revolutionize social interaction.’ — Shimrit Ben-Yair, product manager in charge of the social graph."

I thought that was an interesting quote from wired which rings as true for me.

  • Dodecahedron0

what do they mean specifically by overshare and undershare?

I think facebook needs competition like anything does, but too bad its google.

This is the beginning of the end of Facebook. Their overhyped valuation is going to melt in a second as more people pull their friends into Google+. It is also the beginning of the tech bubble burst and the end of all the insane companies and startups started that rely on Facebook.

It was about time to be honest. And even if Google+ doesn't succeed, there are quite a few alternatives being built to Facebook that are possible Facebook killers. More privacy, own your content and make it closed with invites (just like Facebook did when it started) and Facebook now will become new MySpace.

    • Your false predictions sound so heartfelt. I almost feel bad for you.monospaced

England is the birthplace of the modern football, and is also the cradle of development in modern football. There are many similar archaeological investigations on derivation and development of modern football, but these are dating back 200 years ago. Many of those who researched it have a fondness for the grandiose and there are also narrowly nationalistic veiled judgment. But the view that"modern football originated in the 13th century" has always spreaded in Britain. This statement is just a joke.In that era, there certainly was an old football: in the southeast of England coastal area, two nearby villages got together to chase a ball and compete for the honor of this village in the wilderness once every year. But it was not modern football. The real origins were closely linked to politics, economy and the humanities background that the sport needed. In the early of the nineteenth century, British entered the new era of mass production in economic after industrial revolution. A large number of rural people who were unemployment rushed into cities, whose influence expanded rapidly and widdened the British trade all over the world, which gave birth to a very high efficiency to transfer information in the global scope of information network. Under this background, some noble private school children surrounding London began soccer game after-school. School encouraged students to participate in team sports, which is to strong their bodies and in order to cultivate their team spirit. At that time there were no rules of football sports, with both hands and feet, ran in the mud and rainy stadium, showing the youth strength. After graduation, most children from these schools were sent directly into O xford and Cambridge for further study. So the pillar of society in the future of the two top universities also took part in this brutal game to enjoy life from the other side. Football was a game which showed male charm and is a war in peace. In the fast-changing times, anything novelty will arouse extensive concern, besides the sport was born in Oxford. Modern football was born from the campus and developed in mining, which changed from a noble teenagers amateur game into the working classes leisure entertainment. Until the nineteen forties, in Birmingham, Manchester and Sheffield etc industrial base cities, hundreds and thousands of workers started their football games. The original intentions of them were to fight against England cold weather or liberate from severe depressive work environment. So football spreaded rapidly across northern Scotland like wildfire and swept across all England industrial city. Facebook might be slowing down slightly, but that's a long ways from saying Google will be the next big social network. When was the last time a big technology company beat a smaller rival that had already established itself in a given space? I can't think of a single example.

I would expect the new Facebook to come out of left field, a small startup doing something different.

    • How about when Microsoft shit all over the Macinosh with the early versions of Windows®?boobs
    • Talking about web startups though...ukit

I believe Google is trying to hyper-merge every site with any social relevance and can't for the likes of them figure out how to give us our privacy, but also let us somehow converse more than gchat and Google talk.

How long until Google images merges with your personal image library ie flickr, etc. why they haven't knocked flickr out of the water with image hosting services is beyond me, their involvement with picassa or whatever is futile

Google has no heart, no soul, therefore will never be able to build a lifestyle following, they show no interest in specializing only growing

I notice their chrome dictionary now considers google a misspelling as opposed to Google.

There are extremely too many aspects to life, boiling that down to to human essence and allowing you to share at a comfortable level online is a subject perspective and building the platform to provide it has got to be much more difficult than it sounds

    @registe:

Just skimmed all of those articles briefly. All of them dish out different possibble reasons for why FB might be loosing users, from privacy stuff to age demographics (FB's user base getting older, and teens legging it for that reaons [WTF?!]), but none of these articles seems to want to address one distinct possibility:

People are getting absolutely tired of being advertised at everywhere, and that's one of the primary drivers for them leaving FB.

    Just thinking out loud here.
