this can work out really great! embrace this project more like an experiment and it should be fun, or use like 4 x 640x480 that would display all the info at once on a bigger screen, but only displays 1 part on lower res... something like that.
Or just send the fucker an angry email stating that he's an idiot.

did you ask them what their reason was for this?
nobody uses that resolution. nobody.

A client requesting a site built for 800x600 = Nightmare
A client requesting a site built for 640x480 = Hallucination

You might want to reconsider working for said client. Or you can educate them, for a fee.

maybe the client is trying to grab the GEMOS market.

Ask if they have a reason for that size and if not just send them a link to a browser size stats page. Then explain your reason to use a larger size thoroughly and clearly to them:

What are the browser requirements: AOL, Netscape and Internet Explorer?

640x480 = Old ass employee who took a web design class 20 years ago. They're probably just confused and have some convoluted idea about mobile compatibility.
Did they say why?
- watchamakalit0
thats why I wanna know if theres a data I could get
of users with 640 x 480 settings...
so I could show to the client how very few people use it and that its not gonna be a problem..since its the end of the world already..any one from analytics?

Tell the client websites are for other people to view not themselves and as such the standard format should be used...

The horror of this is that we're all going back to smaller sizes than this because of mobile. And clients don't understand why we shouldn't only pacify the lowest cellphone denominator.
