Hi, i got a site on a free hosting and bought a domain name from another provider, the riderection is maked so you always get the domain name on the adress bar but this way i cant verify the site to google webmaster tools (because the domain redir to the server where site is hosted is done with an iframe redir) , what can i do to verify the site with GWT?

Content is demonstrably not always king - just think of the number of garbage sites you end up on when you're searching for something that you normally don't (and don't know where to look - just at the mercy of google...).

Since we all last spoke is there anything other than producing genuine pages with proper H's, semantic mark-up, and getting links to you from reputable sites, that we need to know about ?

Someone is about to take their social networking site live in the next two weeks and they haven't thought about SEO. What three points of advice do you offer?
- trooperbill0
@mikotondria3 - sentiment is now important, social media mentions and links.
After Panda (Feb through April) Super quality content is now needed, plus pages need lots of text on them as theres a light content penalty that can effect the whole site.
Also Google is now picking what deep pages appear in the SERPS, its not like it used to be where this could be manipulated through deep linking so its important to get your page titles and internal anchor text right to steer google to the right destination.
thats about it off the top of my head.

@SteveJobs Look out for duplicate content. make sure all page titles and unique and that deep content can be found within 2 or 3 clicks of the home page.

Dear Mr SEO Guy,
The SEO guy at my work is morbidly obese and but manages to date cute Japanese girls. Is he a racist?

Content may not (always) be king but links definitely are.
- trooperbill0
@silentseven if your domain is a keyword then yes as it means theres less noise in your anchor text (www.) for links that are just your domain. however i woundlt go out and buy loads of keyword rich domains because google's working on fixing that loophole.
...if not then no.
both should resolve to your real site and if so, both can be used to mask link building activities helping you to hit anchor text harder.

@attentionspan i mean
foo.com/index.php?id=1&pid=2&gid...
/?id=1&pid=2&gid=3
is just a canonical url of the above (same would be for a folder)- This would be terrible for SEO as it communicates nothing about the content of the page. Are you seriously selling this bs?spot13
- its the diff between best practice and reality... many querystring urls rank just finetrooperbill

Are standard browser dropdown menus read by spiders as well CSS styled dropdowns?
- ukit0
Anything that is in the actual HTML of the page is read by spiders, including dropdowns

I'd like to do it without adding written by to each post. Thanks!

@trooperbill-The reason I'm asking is becuase my gf who happend to be a photographer is about to finish her website with WP she bought from some of the guys here. I was wondering what tips could you provide, given the type of work she does. I get the adding text is important, but not king. I guess she can talk about her projects individually. I'm sure there is more to it. She wants to appear on searches in Texas, locally as well.
