You can't just challenge the entire macro economic system and expect that it will go un-noticed or un-taxed. It's childish to think that there could ever be a new standard of currency derived solely from some sociological experiment without repercussion.
Data will certainly be the currency of the future (and very likely already is), but not in this way. You wonder why governments and big business are tracking your every move? Simple... they want to know which way the fish are swimming that day, so they can cast their nets accordingly.
Every time you argue over which smart phone is better, or which OS is the best or even which super market is "coolest" to shop at, they win. They don't give a shit which one you chose, so long as collectively a higher percentage of you chose one way over the other.
The economy has been rigged since it's inception, and it will stay that way because it works. Even if by some miracle the world decides this digital "coin" is it's new banner under which to march; they will only use the same proven tactics to take them from you.
If you want to change the way the world works, then tear it to the foundation. Don't be content to just graffiti it's walls with Dickbutt...

Fed Doesn't Have Authority to Regulate Bitcoin, Yellen Says
The central bank's chief says it's not so easy to regulate the virtual currency, because there's no central issuer or network operator.- how is that back? I took that as a "we don't want to have anything to do with them"formed

FCA bans the sale of crypto-derivatives to retail consumers
The ban will come into effect on 6 January 2021. UK consumers should continue to be alert for crypto-derivative investment scams. As the sale of derivatives and ETNs that reference certain types of cryptoassets to retail consumers is now banned, any firm offering these services to retail consumers is likely to be a scam.

Not to think too speculatively... As I see it; boil it down to what it is. The internet is a technology as is bitcoin. By that I mean I don't think bitcooin can be defined as a currency or commodity. i see the 'value' more in it's utility. Think of the currency aspect of it as an app. There will be more built on top of it in time. Thus is very under valued still.
- kind of sounds like a contradiction, but then I suppose it is..CableStudios
- See this as an example: http://boombustblog.…CableStudios
- I don't follow that logicformed
- @darenpa72: Possession of money is one way to be wealthy.
But currency is the opposite of possession.CableStudios

Has anyone tried the Bitcoin computer?
I think I will get one for a project that I'm cooking but would like some feedback/review on it if possible.

^ this. any stock price that goes up that fast means it wont be worth much for long. it means people would rather put it under the bed and sit on it thinking itll be worth way more in the future - than actually put it to use and make the system work. At first people( the govt & the feds especially) were weary and against it. Then they saw the backing of the community for bitcoin.
Now the headlines read 'feds & govt embrace bitcoin' ..oh why the change i wonder- ah, because they found something new to tax. Taxes, another one of 'Murica's BS systems that dont work.- It's not a stock, it's a currency. Compared to estimated value, these fluctuations are negligible.ZOOP
- Doesn't matter, speculation is speculation. People will put there money in anything they think will make them money.formed
- Formed is correct. i meant to say currency. its the same concept. people invest in it and leave it there rather than actually put it to use in the system it was designed for.xpxhxoxexnxixx

it's still pretty weird to me. So anyone can start a server farm and just mine these things all day? what's really going on there..... is bitcoin using the GPU/CPU cycles to do some other computing task? search for extraterrestrials? sounds like a giant botnet created by everyone running the bitcoin miner. haha
weird.
