open space is overrated...okay, not overrated but not thought out. The people who conceive of these open spaces do not work in them, apparently. Rather than look at what everyone else is doing, outline how your team works or likes to work...is it uber collaborative? Do ya'll have brainstorming meetings and then go back to your corners to work away? Do designers work frequently with devs or copywriters? Create a space that accentuates how ya'll work...please, do it for the rest of us! :)

I love my open office, i can have meetings in it, set up a work space for mini projects or display a current product in development
not to mention the 6000 sq ft area i have upstairs set up for photo/videography
it's not that it's not thought out but i want a space to provide more than a desk and a chair.... that idea is dated to say the least...

@monkeyshine
I'd love to outline how my team works but right now it's three people. but in two months it's going to 7 people and if things go right next year it will be more. So how it works now will not work for what it's going to be. Also we have the added issue of working with another half of the company that does something totally different then us. Any insight I can get on what is the norm (have to back up my "creatives need and are used to 'x'... arguments) and what works best for others is helpful.

We are in our own room separate from the rest of the company apx 40x60ft, CD has a small office. We have...I'll call them over-sized cubicle's~10x10ft. Open space with a large bar height table in the middle. low lit dark gray walls, it's easier on the eyes but some sunlight would be nice.
Plus side there is more communication compared to everyone having there own office. Negative there is no getting away from everyone, no privacy for a phone call, and wearing headphones all the time sucks.
