Quite enjoying this. Especially the bit about Oasis vs Blur in the Britpop segment.

Binge watched volume two of Love Death + Robots last night.
Overall, a better collection of stories ... less cliche, gratuitous sex and more thoughtful than volume one.
In terms of animation, really good episodes but nothing as good as The Witness from volume one.For me the standout episodes were Ice (great animation), Pop Squad (most interesting premise) and The Drowned Giant which, imo, is the best episode of the entire series.
- loved this too – I've been telling everyone season two is outtimeless

Still soooo good.
- Just watched it yesterday again :)helloeatbreathedrive
- MasterpieceRamanisky2
- Watched this recently - one thing I found amusing was how camp and Hollywood a lot of the FBI/Fed/Cop actors were :)Nairn
- I’ve always found this overrated and hokey. As dated as it is, I prefer Michael Mann’s take on the character material in Manhunter.Wolfboy
- I prefer Red Dragon as a story and I definitely prefer Brian Cox as Hannibal. No scenery chewing.Wolfboy
- Still a masterpiece but I’m with Wolf too. Manhunter edges it.MrT
- Watched first and second in last week tooDarkCover
- Yes but this one is on Netflix streaming yaknuckleheads read the thread titlenb
- Ah, I didn’t know the rules. In that case I prefer Always Sunny in Philadelphia.Wolfboy

Can recommend the 3 season tv drama show "Borgen". Its about Danish parliament, surviving the political climate, making deals, putting a positive spin on topics and the personal toll it takes being the prime minister.
Its originally in Danish but have been dubbed to English and German.

Started watching The Outsider. Amazing cast and I love Ben Mendelsohn. But as soon as there was a sniff of something paranormal / supernatural, I was like nope! Can’t be having that nonsense. So I have bailed on it.
Is that weird? I feel like I miss out on a load of good stuff because I’m just irritated by anything even remotely mystical.
Are there more like me? Is there a cream you can get?
- Oops, wrong thread. Though it was general tv series thread.mort_
- nevermind what you said, this looks like a solid show actuallygrafician
- “nevermind what you said” haha, nice.mort_
- _mort .. you’ll be happy to know that you didn’t miss a thing ... based on the ending I saw.Ramanisky2
- Explained it all with monsters I’m guessing.mort_
- ^ something like thatRamanisky2
- @mort that happened with me when I watched Lost; loved it at first, until they introduced the smoke monster thing. They , well, LOST me at that point.Krassy
- Lost - yeah same. It started out so well. Somehow I made it to the end for the ultimate disappointment. Unforgivable.mort_
- ^ yeah for me Lost got worse after season 2 and the finale sucked ... what did you guys think of The Leftovers and its finale ??? I loved it.Ramanisky2
- Loved Leftovers but didn’t finish it. It was weird and interesting. Must get back to it.mort_
- ... which prolly means starting it againmort_
- I would def start from the beginning.Ramanisky2
- and it’s only 3 seasons.Ramanisky2
- I loved the Leftovers and haven't heard one bad word about it. It's so similar to Lost I'm surprised the reactions to both shows are so different.CyBrainX

Army of the Dead. What a fun, gory action packed turn off your brain movie. Gonna have to check it out again.
- from 1-10 to what extent the dialogues have been replaced with zombie growls?
https://www.youtube.…sted - Yeah, I yaarr'd it last night and watched a bit. Big Dave is always good. I hope they release some of the production art, would have been so much fun to work onface_melter
- It's interesting that they had to totally recast a char, then reshoot with her alone on a green screen. She never interacted in real-time with the other actorsbulletfactory
- definitely has its moments! it's a heist movie AND a zombie movie. has some shit that makes no fucking sense though too.sarahfailin
- from 1-10 to what extent the dialogues have been replaced with zombie growls?

- Just finished watching this...I thought they must have dramatized it a lot but if anything the real story is even weirder.yuekit

Unorthodox
I know this has been posted before, but I just finished watching it.
A touching story.
It also reminded me of someone.
When I moved to New York, in the early 90s I worked in a car service in Borough Park. It's the same orthodox Jewish community
but in another part of Brooklyn. I probably can write a book about all the crazy weird stuff I witnessed, but ...There was this lady who looked similar to the girl in the series. For a couple of months every Saturday evening right after Shabbat I would take her to East Village. On the way there she would change her clothes in the back of my car. Get dressed in jeans, revealing blouse, to the point that she looked like a completely different person when getting out of my car. First few times she did that quietly.
Then once while she was changing we started a conversation, and she opened up to me. The girl shared that she was not happy in her marriage, that she met someone and started going out to nightclubs. Once she was in Limelight and bumped in 2 orthodox guys. It made her panicked, so she decided to go only to a lesbian club, where a chance of meeting orthodox men were slim. That's where I was taking her all that times. I took her there a couple of times more, and then she disappeared.
While watching this series I thought of her. I wonder what have become of her, where is she now...
- cool story bro.
no seriously you should write a short story or something, so interesting :)_niko - i dont know what to say, i gave you a +1Bennn
- i have a few friends that bailed on the orthodoxy. it's not easy at all. also good series.renderedred
- orthodox jewish world is very aggressive to say the least...renderedred
- Fascinating story, great series.sea_sea
- Great bookMrT
- Great series. Your story was great too. I live in the Lower East Side, so I see a lot of Orthodox people too. I always wonder about their lives.CyBrainX

I'd've preferred to post some video in the stand up thread, but I can't find any good, translated ones.
Anyway, currently going through 'Comedians of the World' on Netflix with an episode every couple of days - last night it was Donel Jack'sman and it was the most I've laughed at the TV in a long time.
Not sure what's happened to stand-up, but a lot of it seems to be insipid, unfunny, self-congratulatory wank these days, but this guy pressed my buttons.
- Will check it out, thanks. Stewart Lee is also a great antidote to the usual drivel.mort_
- I've pretty much saturated my occasional supermarket buddy, Stewart Lee, these last couple of years :)Nairn
- Ha, same. Seeing him live might be the hardest I’ve laughed. So did you say hello to him while choosing fabric conditioner?mort_
- No, god no! i just eyeball him from askance. he gets fatter every time i see him, and now he looks like Santa Claus, hahaNairn
- Lol. Don’t think I’d approach him either.mort_
- Do you really go shopping with Stew? I've been watching his older stuff hahaIanbolton
- I've seen him a few times at my sainsbury's. To say that I go shopping with him would be a bit of a stretch... . But, fuckit, yeah. We're best buds.Nairn
- He waits for me by the fresh cut flowers, then we wend our seperate ways, coyly acknowledging each other 'til we hit the tills and see who won. He always does.Nairn
- It's the manpads. They cost a fortune.Nairn
- Poor santa.Nairn
- @Nairn, I used to shop at that Sainsbury's too, saw him a couple of times.. also had one of his kids run into the back of my leg on a scooter in n16 years ago !dee-dubs

- Saw it last weekend. Felt bad for the Stanford Sailing coach. He gave all the money to the school instead of pocketing any cash like other schools...mstocks

I rarely watch anything other than my children's Netflix account these days... "Dad Inside" so to speak. I didn't think it was going to be good but dammit Guillermo Del Toro always delivers a quality product:
- All 3 series were amazing. Binged them all in about a month. So well done. Great voice cast. Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans comes out July 21.Akagiyama
