Oliver Nelson & Carl B. Strokes - The Mayor And The People
http://www.mediafire.com/?9udejt…In 1967 Carl B. Stokes was the first elected black mayor of an American city, Cleveland, Ohio. The first side of this album features a highly political press conference that touches on issues of the time, The Black Panthers, genocide and racism. On the second side is a beautiful seven-movement suite of poetry and spirituals featuring narration again from Carl B. Stoke. (El Reza)

1970, the year of this recording, was a mighty exploratory year for jazz. The shock waves of the Miles Davis bombshell, Bitches Brew, were strongly reverberating in open minds. But not every innovator had to plug-in their instrument in order to crackle electrically. Indeed, Roy Brooks demonstrates on this live date just how alive and creative acoustic jazz could still be in that pivotal year of 1970.
- These are quite the jump on Black History Month. Sounds like someone should post Marvin's What's Goin' On.CyBrainX
