The last few months my dreamweaver is struggling with websites. Soooooooo slow!!!
Scolling up and down a page to edit text or anything takes up to 2 mins to load. Anyone with experience of this (solution)?Happens on pages with no java/flash or anything interesting in it!

it must be sending your data to a remote data center...

Dreamweaver slow?
Sleep quicker!

Well it definitely isn't a hardware issue, what you've got should run it fine, unless you've got loads of other crap running simultaneously.
Run it from a fresh boot-up without being connected to a network/the internet, see if it's any quicker. That'll rule out the remote data centre option.

Slowly deleting items from the code to track down the culprit.
Seems to be the CSS file. When I delete the link it runs much quicker (normal). Just working through the css now to see what it is because it's happening on most the sites I've done.I have solved the problem on one site by deleting a .png as a background image in one of the css classes! WTF?
Thanks for all your concerns/help.

Yep, appears to be any class with a background image!
Can you see anything wrong with the way I've written this?background-image:url(../images/b...

I've tried replacing the relative path to absolute for the background image but still makes the page virtually unusable.

maybe your png is just to big to handle, try replacing it with a lowsize jpg maybe

Even the jpegs that are slowing things right down. Any background image at all in my css screws it all up. But I'll see if it's a file size issue on the jpegs.

Okay, The file size of the image is not slowing things down. 4k!
It's this little fucker...background-repeat: repeat-x;
Dreamweaver takes about 30 secs to do anything with this declaration in my CSS. So that's my problem. Anyone know a cure? Is there a low res view mode??

This solution has fixed my problem... (Thanks Pillhead)
Run Dreamweaver in "Rosetta mode". You will lose performance gains in tasks like startup time, menu response, etc., but the problem should stop.
To run Dreamweaver in Rosetta mode, perform these steps:
1. In the Finder, browse to Applications/Dreamweaver CS3
2. Select the Dreamweaver application and choose File > Get Info.
3. In the General section, select "Open using Rosetta".Now, I have no idea what "Rosetta Mode" is but it works so fuck it!

What happened to plain old text editers? I used to open files up in text editor and make small changes for speed.
If I now open an .html file in TextEdit it opens as a web page as opposed to code. Any advice on a quick html editor app?

I've been hearing massive reports of Adobe products, slowing up the system lately. Not including Flash, but Photoshop, Dreamweaver..etc...

This is the reason I switched to Coda. Dreamweaver got to be too slow to just open and edit html with.
