I have a Skyway T/A in original condition. Maybe 5 or 6 miles ridden total. Might have been one of the very last ones out of the plant in Redding, CA (where I grew up). My mom knew some people there and when my mountain bike got stolen she hit them up and they put one together for me - probably in '84 or '85. I'd like to sell it but I haven't got a clue what it's worth. I have 3 kids now, never was a big BMX guy and I would probably rather have some cash. I always planned on giving it to my son if I had one.. but now I realize what a stupid idea that would be! It would be a real find for someone who was into these 80's BMXs. Any ideas?
- check completed items on ebay. but if it's a skyway survivor and complete could be north of $1kprophetone
- $3800 BIN with 27 watchers http://www.ebay.com/…prophetone
- Wow. Didn't realize it could be worth that much. Cool, I'll dust it off and get it up there. Is ebay the best place to sell?mathinc
- personally i would try local first, less hassle, but DO NOT compromise on market value with a local guy, b/c you could go eBay route and make the correct $$$prophetone
- all this being said, if you were in vancouver i would be lowballing you like crazy to get my greasy mitts on it for cheap... hahahaprophetone
- hahaha. Yeah I live in a pretty small town (~60k pop). Doubt I'd find A. a buyer and B. a buyer with $mathinc
- well, you could initially list it at proper $$$ but have it set as a pickup only, again saving hassle, or just keep to within USA only of shippingprophetone
- i guess what i'm saying is you could get someone who knows they are passing through, or maybe have friends relatives near you who can pick up locally etc.prophetone
- True. It would be a lot easier than shipping.mathinc

- Has anyone of you got one of these?Longcopylover
- I understand the nostalgia side of getting a bmx but in that case get an original as a collector.deadsperm
- There are much better options out there like the Sunday Model C or WTP Atlas if you actually want to ride.
Those Chicago bars, ugh.deadsperm

not sure if they ever disappeared but it looks like they're making a huge comeback. My kids have been bugging me for a new bmx this summer so I got them to watch RAD! yesterday to see if they still want one hoping the movie would be so cheesy that it turns them off, but they absolutely loved it and want one more than ever! lol.

- there is NOTHING better than sharing stuff with your kids that you loved... and having them love it too...exador1
- my kids are in highschool and middle school now, but i've shown them tons of stuff over the years from my childhood etc...exador1
- it put a massive smile on my face when they really 'took' to something that i shared with them... my daughter is 15, and she's a HUGE Killing Joke fan...exador1
- which makes me smile..I've been playing her their stuff like 'love like blood' and 'adorations' to her since she was little...exador1
- as for movies and tv shows, when they were little, i got a dvd collection of Tailspin, and Gummi Bears' from Disney... which I'd loved as a kid...they did too:)exador1

My 8 year old son is just getting into riding pump tracks / racing.
I'm thinking about getting a 26" or 29" so I can have a crack when its just us. Not sure which size would be better for tooling around on, we usually cover a bit of distance too and he's way fitter than I am. My current bike is a 29er FGFS but its quite heavy and gets pedal strike on the berms.
- Racing is the gateway drug to dirt (only joking). You Aussies have been putting out some amazing dirt riders lately. Jason Watts is a maniac.garbage
- What crank arm length is giving you pedal strike on that bike? 175?garbage
- Yeah 175, but it’s because it’s fixed gear, no good as you can’t pump the bike. Also would be nice to have something like a GT heritage pro series 29!slappy

Adults who still ride BMX bikes are either super cool hipsters or total meth-heads that have multiple DUIIs.
- Or perhaps dad's passing along knowledge to their grommets? Tap the brakes on your categorizationsBonSeff

- Or people that really dedicated themselves to a craft, are good at what they do, and have lifelong bonds with like-minded folk.garbage
- Ironically, your "super cool hipster" comment kind of screams "OK Boomer". Don't wet your Depends because other people are having fun without you.garbage

I started racing indoor BMX last winter with my son, who's 6 now, I'm 46! We're both mountain bikers and dirt jumpers, so figured this would be cool with ski season while it's cold as balls outside. There's hundreds of racers of all ages, every other weekend, so good vibes and friendly folks.
It's been a blast! Bikes are fucking rad.
- That's awesome. You're from SLC? Dirt / creative weirdo BMX mecca.garbage
- Cool!!OBBTKN
- My friend and his son have been doing the same out in Cali, kid's ripping, they love it! Can't wait for my daughter to find the things she loves.ben_
- Pics? Vids?stoplying

- Thx guys! Yeah, I'm in the SLC. Def becoming an action sports mecca. My son Sage is hooked, he always wants to win.

What's the Church of Aitken? We're not into church, just getting shreddy.davey_g - Mike Aitken is trail god from SLC. He was an absolute legend, amazing style.garbage
- @garbage - Oh, Mike Aitken. Yes, ripping rider! This place is a mecca for bikers, the list is massive.davey_g

Shout out to the weird SLC style, it's so fun.

I grew up with an urban legend about a bike. Any of you have the same one? It was called the Coke Machine. It sounded way cooler than even the legendary PK Ripper.

This dude is going to be one of the next big tech names. I don't normally like WC style, but he's going to be big.
- Last two clips were great. He's got skill, but without innovating he'll be lost in the crowd of Kerley/ Smillie/ Ricany style clones.see_bee
- you should check out axel hodges if you haven't already, motocross but same vibe
https://www.youtube.…BonSeff - https://www.youtube.…BonSeff
- @see_bee I think he's Smillie protégé? They seem to film a lot together. He's a pup but if he keeps up we have a lot of good things to look forward to.garbage
