Wow, once the government is done with the torrents, you can surely bet that many blogs and online forums will easily be the next target of online infringements with constant reblogs, reposts, hotlinking of images can be considered infringements. Without notice, companies can be turned off like that.
And let's not forget about that firm who've somehow patented rollovers forcing big companies to pay huge sums of money for royalties on rollovers. There's no stopping! Haha, we're all screwed...
- ...cuz sharing copyrighted movies is the same as my nana hotlinking images on her blogmtgentry
- in the eyes of the courts both can be considered copyright infringements.jetSkii
- < Yeah exactly. It's fucking ridiculous for the govt to be taking down a site w/ a few links to torrents while leaving YouTube as isabettertomorrow
- YouTube and Last.fm to their own devicesabettertomorrow

I'm ok with them taking down most of the other sites though. massnike.com, coachoutletfactory.com,burberryo... etc... Those are clearly counterfeiters.

Apparently we're headed in the direction of Australia...with a "banned websites" list

Taking down and blocking sites.
Like China does. And the first to go are Chinese counterfeit sites?
Oh the irony. What is following: wikileaks and the ilks. Anything that upset the legitimacy of a country's action.
Like China does.Just admit it. China is on top of the game. They know what's up.

you guys like tacos?

We're talking about taking down domains. Not blocking them. So sadly, moving to another country won't help (if that's what you meant)
Most of the confiscated domains, for instance, simply announced new web addresses once the dust had cleared. So its a bit pointless in addition to being heavy-handed.
- Guess we're talking about both. Wikileaks might not be blocked, but in effect its censored. Which was my sentiment.Peter
