I'm still on a Galaxy S5, want to ditch Samsung but don't really trust Google. Does that just leave LG or some Chinese spy gadget?
- Chinese Spy Gadgets are looking good these days, mind. Sony are still knocking out some half decent phones too. Or Blackberry..Nairn

- Look at the newer Samsungs. I went from a S5 to S8, HUGE improvement!formed
- the new OnePlus is receiving lots of great reviewsBennn
- You don't trust Google but you want to stick with Android? Might as well get the Pixel, because you're already trusting them.monospaced
- Pixel is amazingBennn
- I have a Pixel, it's just okaymonospaced
- Nowhere near as reliable or smooth as the iPhone 8 I have.monospaced
- You understand the difference between the operating system and the hardware, right? I can always root the OS, can't stop something built into the chipset.i_monk

Thousands of Google staff around the globe stage mass #MeToo walkout over tech giant's $90m payout to sex-pest executive plus a $14m loan to buy a beach estate in Japan

Yo dawn, I heard you like notches

Ordered the new Pixel 3 XL, they threw in a free pixel stand.
Can't wait to experience the biggest notch ever on a phone. It's going to be yuuuuuge.

finally got off of the apple ios teat. jumped from an iphone 6s to the new oneplus 6. looking forward to Oreo being released to devs in a month or so that i can rom it with LineageOS.
i've wanted to get into the world of rooting and skinning phones for evar. So, i'm taking this opp to not get too precious about the new Android space and just seeing what kind of trouble i can get into and out of.
for me, it was a toss up between this and the pixel. not being a fan of google was what helped push me to oneplus. the over 1k phones are all fine but i don't need to chase that dragon anymore.

Ok so I just got the Google pixel 2. Because the MiA1 i had isn't compatible with the mobile network company I want to switch to.
First impression
It's got stereo front facing speakers!
Fairly light compare to the MiA1
No headphone jack :(
Solid fast
Matt finish around the rim and back feels nice
And apparently squeezing the phone can trigger stuffs... Don't exactly know if this is necessary at all...- Charges SUPER fast too. I like mine but it’s just a work phone so not my daily driver.monospaced
- I have one, could not be happierdrgs
- should have waited, 3 is out in a few months,fadein11
- I never get the newest consumer tech. I wait for reviews to be published and
all the wrinkles ironed out firstpango - the squeeze thing brings up the assistant, I wish you could re-assign it to other functions like opening a new browser tab.zarkonite
- Ya I disable the assistant. I don't need assist!pango
- I like mine a lot but get a case. Glass back is a bitch.sarahfailin
- Ya getting one from Amazon.
Why couldn't they make 100% aluminum Matt back instead of 20% glass back?pango - My White Pixel 2 has a plastic back it seems? More durable than iPhone and not as slippery. I still can’t stand the unnecessary steps to get certain things donemonospaced
- Out of nowhere the weather indicators disappeared from my home and lock screens and no way to get them back. I hate that.monospaced
- It's actually metal unibody
It's the matt finish that made it feel like plastic.pango - I like the finish. It doesn’t leap off surfaces like my iPhone 8 seems to do several times a day.monospaced

The whole copying thing aside, that on-screen fingerprint reader is pretty nifty. I would hope that that would become standard.
- pango0
doesn't seem like there's a way to mute the microphone... interesting....

I was given a free android phone (MiA1). And since my iphone 5s dies due to weather whenever I go outside of my house, I guess I'll be using android now.
how the hell do you disable google assistant? I don't use voice command for anything. really just want to disable it from the home button.... any way to do that?
- Ok.... definitely some getting used to.
What should I know?
C'mon help a brother out.pango - Can anyone see my post?! Hello???pango
- It involves signing out of google.monospaced
- :(pango
- Ok.... definitely some getting used to.

After 4 hours and four factory resets working around an Optimize Apps Loop...I decided to install LineageOS and immediately root it.
LineageOS set and ready to customize!

Got my Pixel 2 XL this weekend moved from the Samsung S6 Edge + and theres a lot to get used to. that camera tho! wow. blue shift at 45degree so no biggie, black smere is present as are crushed blacks at low light bit for day to day use i love it so far.
- I like my Pixel2 so far. Great camera, great battery, i like the Google AndroidBennn
- yep its an awesome phonetrooperbill

anyone seen a nice cover / sleeve for a Pixel? Ideally some kind of super-thin but tactile sheath.
Really nice phone but there's no way I'll keep it that way. It's like a soapy fish with a concrete fetish.

"OnePlus 5T hands-on—OnePlus offers $800 design at a $499 price"
"The OnePlus 5 was a great phone, with our main complaint being that the design couldn't keep up with the $800 slim-bezel flagships that were launching all year. With the 5T's modernized design, OnePlus seems to be offering the same specs and design as the competition, but for a much lower price."

hey sarah, which cyanogenmod version do you have?
I thought it had been discontinued and there was some fork...
- scarabin_net0
i've been an iphone user since it originally launched. thinking it's time to switch to android...
in a new phone i want:
• NFC programming capability so i can flash my own NFC tags
• a not super-creepy reputation in regards to privacy and how my data is used
• a small or nonexistent bezelany suggestions? i basically know nothing about the android phone market :/

*fingers crossed it comes to pass*detritus - Are you under the impression that some phones don't spy your every moves?zarkonite
- set0
- Hey, with all the settings customization it looks like you havr it looking almost exactly like iOS. Not bad ;)monospaced
- Yea this is the most efficient way for me, kudos to apple mono if that tickles your little bum bumset
- I'm just playing. It's a nice setup. I hope you know I'm not above switching to android, as I am a practical person and my loyalty to Apple isn't that deep.monospaced
- you're missing the pornhub app at the bottom ;)futurefood
- What launcher are you using set?Bennn

doing my annual system reset on my Oneplus One. Sure getting a lot of mileage out of this guy. Let's see how well it continues to hold up...
- Are you OS updating and if so are you able to roll back to early builds? That seems key to keeping an older phone workingset
- It factory resets to the most recent version. Running Marshmallow. Seems like it needs an update, and there isn't one for OPO unfortunately.sarahfailin
