- yes, use "an" when the next word has a vowel SOUND, not just because it's a vowel.bulletfactory
- isn't "u" a vowel sound?404NotFound

put it in a mac and reformat it. Macs will let you reformat media as windows-compatible. Also, the auto-run program on the USB shouldn't work on the mac, so it won't show up as a CD

The little ROM chip which normally works as a controller for a standard USB stick, will have been flashed to appear as a CD drive to your computer. That's the problem.
You'd probably have to know the manufacturer of the original USB thumb drive and flash it with their firmware. It's unlikely you could find a copy of the original firmware though, most usb drives don't get updated.
- So the lowdown is, as far as your computer is concerned, it really is a CD being plugged in.kalkal

Use Testdisk, and fix its masterboot record (MBR)?

- Wouldn't work, as far as the computer sees it, it's a CD and doesn't have a MBR. It's not even writeable!kalkal

you need a soldering iron, a steady hand, a degree in advance computer ergonomics and some masking tape

this should do the trick for you
