trying to convince a client that a website with content below the fold will be seen and that people like to scroll. there was a time when scrolling did suck, but that was 10 years ago... right?

i much prefer viewing sites with content laid out vertically, so i can just scroll, as opposed to clicking countless times.
its a bit over done but much like blogs etc, its just nice to scroll and not have to click, easier user experience in my eyes.

Depends on the type of information in my opinion. If there isn't any need for scrolling, it would seem like a useless feature. However apple, netflix come to mind whom uses scrolling features to make information easily available without having to move between pages.

I'm a bit over scrolling.. mostly since it usually coincides with stock standard blog style layouts... but there are cases where it's the only solution that makes sense (content heavy news sites, et al)

Scrolling doesn't suck when you have similar information all on one page and you want to get the big load on your face all at once.
However, it does suck when you only have a paragraph of scrolling content under the fold. Oh let me scroll down so I can read that last sentence. That, sucks.
Personally, I prefer small chunks of information, a main nav, and a left and right button to go in between sections.
- that mentality seems boring.. you arent the viewer, you are the designer..e-pill
- i view and get bored with 1 page "folios" wack ass garbages..e-pill
- who cares for 1 pages sites.. BLAST ME WITH INFO!! every other site is.. and im clicking!!!e-pill
- oh i am just likeyour mother or father or brother.. same as same can be..e-pill
- bring something new to the table dont bring 1990s style.. what is the difference..e-pill

a site that is single page gets closed instantly as i can see what it is without a thought.. a site that shows more that showcases its thought is a site that has scrolling..
dont do single pages or else your hard work will be shut off closed down with in seconds and never will any links be clicked... because what is the point , i saw the best what that designer can do.. all in 1 page..
meh.
please think larger than my screen size.. please make me explore your imagination, your creativity, or else you are just regular AM RADIO!!!

Ever write a post here, re-write it, backspace, re-write... think fuck-it then scroll up and just click another thread?
- akrokdesign0
suck:a free scrolling. :-)

content worth scrolling to read or see is a good thing.... in my mind better than clicking and hitting BACK and doing it again....
Run-on writing and meaningless filler stock photos gave scrolling a bad name.... and the press-release cut-paste pile of content from corporate PR people didn't help either.....
- dirtydesign0
sideways scrolling kind of blows though...
- +1 to this, not as intuitive to go left/right with mouse, up/down very naturald_rek
- horizontal scrolling needs buttons to allow transition between horizontal areas.NickInfozure
