So I got my tickets / hotel the other day. Flying in on the 23rd, leaving the 29th. Going to be staying in Shinjuku.
I really want to check out the Ameyoko Market and the Tsukiji Fish Market...other than that I probably want to spend a day looking for records, and another day finding denim.
Any Japan QBNers want to meet up while I'm in town?

The band is called Verbal Kint and they're playing these dates:
11/25 @ Club Three, Tokyo; 11/29 @ Colored Jam, Tokyo

If you're not dedicating an afternoon to at least browsing a couple used panty stores there's really no point in going to Tokyo.
I just wanted to make sure that got said.
- Hooters are to open their first here, btw

I just got back from a week there. Living in NYC I was not overwhelmed with the city and found it very easy to get around. I speak a little Japanese so on the odd occasion that I needed to communicate with someone who didn't speak japanese it wasnt a problem.
Shunjuku is cool, Kuchijoji is chill. I recommend going to the Edo & Sumo museum. It's pretty unbelievable. I spent 6 hours on my birthday drinking beer and watching sumo.
- Yeah. Sumo is the best, but you got to be there when it's in session...TheBlueOne

Tokyo is awesome. I went for 12 days in 2006 to see a friend who lives there. I'd go again in a heartbeat.

I was there when I was 17. Stand outs for me then were hot girls that were into video games, arcades, street bikes and it was mad clean for a big city. Also the gadgets felt like being in the future. It's one of my favorite places in the world.

and as strange as it sounds, the mcd's in the tokyo airport is awesome... they use real beef, fresh bread... one of the most amazing burgers i've ever had. this is not a joke.

there are people who will offer you some rice crackers with strange flavors. they will taste like death. always carry a bottle of water- although it wont be enough. 4 days later you will still have the taste in you mouth. errrrrr.
- Curry rice crackers? Those are excellent.DrBombay
- no, i like those too- these were more like seaweed/fish/death crackersbjladams

in Meguro, there is a great pastry donut shop called Brooklyn Bagels or something, they make some awesome donuts.. if you can find weed, that is the munchy spot..

Go to the international store in Hiroo and buy all of the marbled Japanese steak you can, then take the train and meet Peter at Naka-Meguro station and grill on his balcony. His neighbors may look at you funny like you are a crazy foreigner who is burning the building down, but don't mind them. As soon as they smell grilled steak they will relax.
