Well, the actual Flash plugin doesn't work. This means you can export iPad/Phone apps with Flash IDE

Maybe apple tried it and found out it was soooo slow and clunky that they realized this would cause programmers to just give up and learn Objective-C...
And/or some major companies told apple they'd go android-only for their in-house apps like timesheets if apple wouldn't let them "re-purpose their code assets written in flex to the IOS platform"
.... but I'm coming to think of any code in flash as being an asset that doesn't hold much long-term value, your code is hostage to too many competing corporate agendas....
- why needs a fucking timesheet written in Flex, utterly moronic using something so processor intensive for a fucking formPIZZA
- I worked at a place whose fucking timesheet app was written in J2EE and an applet tied to a SAP back end....vaxorcist
- and it was soooo slow, and time-out-ey everyone wanted a billing code for timesheet timewastevaxorcist

- That was on Flash the web plugin, so the bullshit is on you my friend:)ukit
- It is bullshit though ;)lukus_W
- my friendly ukit, we both know the only reason apple is doing a 180 turn is because other devices are coming out and supporting flashgeorgesIII
- supporting flash, now you can pick out what you like, it doesn't change that the whole debate was full of shit from the startgeorgesIII
- I've worked enough on both platform and always defended Adobe on their stance. now you can still ignore steeveejee is full of itgeorgesIII
- george, I think you are being a bit slow here, they are not supporting flash, they are supporting the IDE link to the API, that is all, it's a 90 degree turn if anything.NONEIS
- API, that is all, it's a 90 degree turn if anything.NONEIS

Out of two corporations, Adobe has a scarier history of monopolization. I support getting rid of Flash, if only to get rid of Adobe's dominance.
- And what would you gain from it
Ever used Gimp?georgesIII - Monopolization Schmonopolization.
Keep Flash off the phone only benefits them and their app store profits.CyBrain
- And what would you gain from it

All the points Jobs made in that post about Flash (web version) were perfectly reasonable. Same thing everyone from Microsoft to the CEOs of Mozilla and Opera have said.
- it was mostly BS.Boz
- BS for appletardsgeorgesIII
- have to agree, I still DO NOT want flash on my iPhone, and still see it not happening, but the IDE is only link to their API, it's recompiled as Objective CNONEIS
- recompiled as Objective CNONEIS

Adobe stock up 11%

Here is the deal. If a app dev makes an app in flash that runs like shit on the iPhone, no one will buy it, download it or install it.
It is like everyone who is against flash on the iPhone thinks that the old Kimble or NRG web site is going to be ported to the fucking thing in every instance.

@raf
how is Adobe monopolizing anything? SWF is open specification. Adobe makes the best tools it's simple as that. They bought Macromedia and integrated their apps into their suite. It's not like they killed any of them.. Okay Freehand but let's face it Illustrator was already an industry standard so there was no point keeping both apps.
The scarier of the two is Apple. Because they set precedents in anti-competitive behavior, they are poster child for DRM, closed up system that we as a technological society have been working so hard to avoid. They make nice icons and slick devices and in return you get the worst draconian piece of technology it's ridiculous.
Flash allowed us to evolve web. To bring video, interaction, applications that work on all browsers without writing thousands of lines of code to make sure it will appear the same.
I can't wait personally for Apple to croak. That day will come as they are putting all of their eggs into one basket. iOS. and when Android takes the majority of the market and Apple's market-share falls below 15% I think they will face huge issues in maintaing revenue.
Just like it happened with computers.
- hahaha...have fun waitingukit
- I'm a flash evangelist, but i find these arguments very one sided...kingsteven
- we wouldn't have spotify if we didn't have itunes, we wouldn't have itunes if we didn't have DRMkingsteven
- I could tell you a thing or two about spotify vs the music industry that would make you rethink apple being good.zarkonite
- Yeah, i don't want to condone their business practice, just that they know how to strike a balance.kingsteven
- create services, raise expectations, move towards a digital economy... even if they are occasionally wee shitskingsteven
- what a load of tin foil hat nonsense BozPIZZA

I never bothered setting this up in flash before... Where do i get this p12 certificate? Already registered as iOS dev for work, downloading the SDK now, presuming this creates a certificate I can export from keychain access?

Compiling iphone apps in flash takes like 15 minutes

"They bought Macromedia and integrated their apps into their suite. It's not like they killed any of them.. "
As much as I don't feel like arguing with you Boz, they bought their only direct competition which counted on the market and killed overlapping products: GoLive, Freehand, ImageReady and whatever it was that was supposed to be Flash killer back in 2000.
I can replace my MacBook with a similar competing computer with Windows (not that I'd like that). I can replace my iPhone with many competing products on the market.
I can replace Photoshop with... wait, I cannot, because Adobe swallowed their competition.
I can replace Flash with... nothing yet, but hopefully at some point with a free standard wrongfully or not called html5, in large part thanks to Apple policy. Not sure if you get it: I can choose if I have to pay Apple, but we all have to pay Adobe.
- LiveMotionPIZZA
- Hahah, who do you think they swallowed in terms of Photoshop exactly, Corel? Bullshit. They have a monopoly, but very little of it has to do with them buying Macromedia.NONEIS
- has to do with them buying Macromedia.NONEIS
- You're actually right, Photoshop had not MM equivalent. Still, it applies to all other app categories mentioned.raf
- you talk as tho Macromedia had something to compete with Photoshop.zarkonite
- from a web design perspective it does, Firefox kicks the shit out of Photoshop for UI workPIZZA
- but wankey digital painting shit and photo retouching then yeah no rivalPIZZA

so to clarify for someone like myself who's not into this much...iphone still doesn't support flash right? its just apple will now allow it to be used to develop their apps...?
- If means developers can develop applications for iPhone using their own choice of tools.lukus_W
- *itlukus_W
- ok got it. flash still isn't supported on iphone thoughDodecahedron
