I liked the concept so much, that I actually started browsing some of these the other day, besides the idea (and logo) comes from Argentina, where in some cities kids are so poor that they don't have shoes to wear.
And the shoes look very much like "alpargatas" the kind of shoe ranch folks & gauchos wear, which are very popular there, but Tom's shoes have a modern twist.
Traditional Alpargatas:

A couple years ago ( when I had more expendable $) I read an article in GOOD mag and bought a pair. I use them as slippers because they're just not shoe-y enough to wear around in dirty NJ. hahaha

I wear the Maestro Botas, have for about 8 months. I love them (though they are too hot in the summer) and for someone who goes through shoes fast, they have held up well. Usually I'm through a pair in a year and these are looking to make it to 1.5 to 2.
- I had the originals before that, but they lasted like 2 months. Fuck those things.pastpastdue

Shoes for fucking dick riders... I would rather wear two telcos bags!
