What was wrong with him? It's unusual to have to put a 10 year old cat down, that's not all that old.
- he was 13 ... got him when he was 3.. he had a thyroid condition and kidney disease
Basically he stopped eating and drinking very littleRamanisky2 - drank very little.Ramanisky2
- Gotcha, I thought he was 10. 13 sounds more natural. Sorry to hear that man. Go pick up another cat n grow to love him.CygnusZero4

Damn, sorry Ramanisky. I had to do this a couple years ago with my golden retriever, it's a really hard thing to do. I still cry sometimes when I look at his pictures. It's amazing how close you get with pets. I think sometimes losing them is even harder than with people because you can't truly say goodbye and have them understand it. The worst part is when you come walking in the door and they're not there to greet you anymore, basically any habit where they used to be there and subconsciously you expect them and they're absent. The house feels so much bigger. It'll pass ... but man, it's tough. I feel for you. Sad day indeed. :*(
- thanks .. yeah .. last night was his first night away from home in 10 years. But I got a chance to truly say goodbye to him this morningRamanisky2

Herman was a good napper, and a good cat. He was one of us.
He was a man who loved the indoors... and napping. And as a napper he explored the comfy surfaces of our home, from the living room couch to the rug and... up to... the bed. He died, like so many young men of his generation, he died before his time. In your wisdom, Dr. Vet Guy, you took him, as you took so many bright flowering young men at Khe Sanh, at Langdok, and Hill 364. These young men gave their lives.
And so did Herman. Herman, who loved napping.
And so, Herman Ramanisky the 2nd, in accordance with what we think your dying wishes might well have been, we commit your final mortal remains to an urn beside the living room couch which you loved so well. Good night, sweet prince.

sorry man. big cat fan myself and saying goodbye to the little fuckers is painful. at least take some solace in the fact that where ever he is now he won't have noticed you're not there. the little self-involved bastards!

sorry to hear this. one of my cats is also this sort of dog-like character with more direct connection to me than the other ones. i'm sure it is particularly hard to lose one of this special kind.

sorry man. my dog is a year old and a tiny little fucker. he's anincredible, goofy little sweetheart. i remember so many things about him already and shudder to think about "that day." sorry for your loss.

there's a distinct bond that we had and today when he picked his little head for the last time and put his little furry paw on my hand .. I looked at the vet who had just witnessed this exchange .. and I fucking lost emotionally. She started to get a bit emotional and left the room to give me some more time with him.
He is sorely missed already.again thanks everyone for the kind words and positive vibes

just reading this is making me nervous for my little margot who's been running around in the forest all day. I hope she doesn't get eaten by a bear.
Sorry to hear about this Ram... never had to experience this yet... I"m sure it won't be very easy.
- Ramanisky20
^ its not easy... but I'm comforted by the fact that he lived 13 years around people who truly loved him. He was always a spoiled little monkey.

Sorry to hear your bad news :(
I had a cat from when i was 1 till I was 22, she had to be put-down too.
Was like losing a member of the family.I sometimes have a dreams that she's still around.
When I wake and reality kicks in its kinda sad, but also kind of nice too as its a little memory of her :)
