    • Probably the first Sci-Fi novel I ever read. The sequels in the 80s/90s were great too.CyBrain

There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to... The Outer Limits.

Read Foundation's Edge. The first one he did in the 80s. It was the best one. The two prequels are great too.CyBrain3/3

David Brin, startide rising, the uplift war
    Asimov (everything by him)
    Heinlein (everything by him)
Greg Bear, eon, eternity, anvil of stars, infinity concerto
John Barnes, A million open doors
Melissa F Scott, Burning Bright, Trouble and her friends
Sherri S Tepper, Grass, Raising the Stones, Sideshow
Orson Scott Card, Enders Game, Worthing Saga
Guy Gavrial Kay, A Song for Arbonne, Tigana, Fionovar Tapestry, The Lion's of Al-Rassan
Cory Doctorow, Little Brother, Down and out in the magic Kingdom

I've been a sci-fi fan my whole life....was raised on it...my mom is a super big sci-fi fan, and thus, my brother and I had a huge library of her books to look at and read as we grew up.....i knew who heinlein, asimov and clarke were before i probably finished learning the alphabet lol.....

anyhow, the books listed above are what i would consider some of my favs, and definitely my fav authors....
