"Suspects arrested after emerging from manhole cover"
http://www.cp24.com/servlet/an/l…
Three people were arrested Sunday morning after at least two men allegedly emerged from a sewer manhole cover near the Eaton Centre.
Peter, a security guard watching over the Bay at Queen and Yonge Streets, says he saw a male and female lingering around the shopping centre's entrance just before 2 a.m.
Peter says after a while, a manhole cover popped off the ground and two men emerged from the ground.
"I saw these two guys just fly out of the manhole. One guy just took off, the other guy just sauntered slowly."
The guard and his partner flagged down nearby police officers who arrested three of the four suspects.
Crews later arrived to weld the manhole cover shut.
It's not known how the suspects wound up in the underground system.
Infiltrating the sewer system is a popular tactic by anarchists, and crews welded shut manhole covers in the summit district in the weeks leading up to the G20.

These riots are fomented by the cops, unions and anarchists. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of these people were paid to do this.
- you should had gone, pays $$$.akrokdesign
- yeah, the police were.xcarlx
- true. it's their job. part of it.akrokdesign

I know i said this already, but it is beyond fucking stupid to me that an entire city is shut down with preventative measures to violence and vandalism, the ensuing violence and vandalism, turned into a police state, and just utterly ground to a halt because of some meetings that could be had somewhere far far far away from any major population center.
- Thank-you. The G8 was in Northern Ontario and none of this shit happened.Andrew_D

- that stand still, run and grab. worked pretty good. nice technic.akrokdesign

all this horseshit vandalism is an inside covert false flag operation done to neutralize the mainstream perception of G20 opposition..

i'm sick of this shit.

it's kind of worrying that after all these years people are oblivious/ignorant about the G20 and why it angers people so much.

- maybe its the whole "topless 15 year old" thing.xcarlx
- I'm no more a fan of 'The Man' than the next guy, this is too much. Someone who only wants to make a semi-decent living has to clean up after these peasants.Continuity

would any one even know that protests even happened if they didn't turn violent?

argh... the lunatic fringe can too easily discredit thoughtful protest.... happens alot, though sometimes with covert help from ....

So I don't get it, are they protesters or paparazzi? Seems strange to complain about poverty when every second "protester" brought their $2000+ camera to the G20 riot. Taking photos of their buddies getting beaten down by provoking the police so they could claim "police brutality".

There's a fat chick on CP24 from CLEVELAND!!! Who is talking nonsense about "The war on the poor" (it's on her tye died shirt) and how the Capitalist Pigs are ruining the world. A direct quote, "Um like yeah, stop the war on the poor, for sure". Another gem was when she was asked where she's going now that she's been released from jail, "I'm not sure where to go". How about fucking HOME!!!
Idiots.

There are all sorts of protesters here. There are people protesting seal beating, private healthcare, public/private education, poverty, canada being on stolen first nations land, war, etc. The biggest violent group of folks are the Black Bloc - and from what I hear they protest government and capitalism.

- I still say just move the shield so it splashes all over the guy.ETM

mg33,
when these events first started in Seattle back in '99, the protesters had very clear messages, mostly against the globalization of the world trade and financial regimes. They (we, since i was among them) thought that globalization as structured by the IMF, World Bank and the WTO, was effectively selling the environment and working poor down the river to "enhance shareholder value", and that the increased disparity between the rich and poor would eventually lead to a global financial collapse.none of that happened of course.
