suburban war is the best song. ending is epic. the hype around funeral i never got into, but this album seems to be their best yet.

I still think the first album was best, they truly owned that sound when Funeral came out... whereas this album tends to burrow a bit (Rolling Stones riff in City With No Children, and the Paper Planes-esque Half Light I) which I think is great... nearly every song has a familiarity to it, and not in a bad way...

I just did a remix of a song form this record, hope you like it.

Good for them. They made a great album. Thought this was also well done.

"Funeral is probably the Sgt. Pepper of our generation,"
Bwhahahahahahahaha!
- not sure what you're into but that the album is amazing...betelgeuse
- This is no joke. Please tell me what you think the equivalent is?grafiske
- you don't know dick about music.hegemony

- Nothing about Funeral is groundbreaking or experimental. It's a rehash of about 5 bands.hegemony

I had never heard of them, and to see them on a Grammys did nothing for me... why are there like 9 members when I can't hear anything. Violin player, but couldn't hear. The second woman drummer seemed to use one-hand to hit a snare for 95% of the time.
I don't know, I was impressed by those performances at all.... guess I'll hit YouTube and check out more.

1.The Suburbs
Arcade Fire2.Recovery
Eminem3.Need You Now
Lady Antebellum4.The Fame Monster
Lady Gaga5. Teenage Dream
Katy PerryWell of course they won.... the other 4 albums barely qualify as music.

re: Sgt Pepper - way to soon to say that to me. Something like that redefines and influences tons of people and music over years. Saying it in 10 years maybe, but now, I doubt it. To give an album that much weight right away feels a bit overblown.

Re: Re: Sgt. Pepper.
It is irrelevant to me how much it influences music now or later, that is not what I mean.
I mean it in terms of quality and the potential it had.
The music industry is far too fucked up and corrupt and based on money to define success by numbers or exposure any longer.

- its almost like you are saying banksey is picaso of our generation. the comparison is invalid.pango

In watching the show, I wish Eminen would have won. I know his music isn't for everyone, but to watch his intensity in performance, lyrics, show, drive.... I don't own any of his albums, so I'm not some big fan, but purely on watching and looking at time and influence over years.. was hoping for him.

I think Eminem makes horrendous music, but I agree he seemed to be the only person with any spirit performing live.

@grafiske - I'm not talking numbers or money. Motorhead is influencial across decades, and no real awards for them... right?
I don't know the album well, so can't speak that much, I just find it hard to measure potential in such a short time. Lot's of things have potential, but never go anywhere... so I'm waiting to see where it goes.

I guess if you don't wear lobster shoes, sing with Elmo or sell Lipton Ice Tea no one know who you are.

I doubt there will ever be another "Sgt Pepper"
Music just isn't at that place anymore where an album can be simultaneously #1 on the charts and completely experimental and new.

- lol - thanks for the brilliant crit hedgebetelgeuse
