I haven't used MS Word for over 5 years.
Am trying to place a background image on the cover that is different backg image to the rest of the document... HOW?! It replaces all pages EVERYTIME.
Google says try watermark instead, that does the same thing.

menu > insert image from file > select image
- he wants a different background for a each section. not just an image.airey

yeah, you need to find the options that allow a front page to have a different background to the rest of the document. from memory i did this using the header and footer years ago. looking now.

what akrok said. then something like format picture... and muck about with all the settings until you get it how you want it.
- double click on the image and you get a new window with tabs. "size" "etc.akrokdesign

Isn't there a 'make front page different' option somewhere... ? I was doing a proposal document in word the other week and got around this problem. I don't have office on this machine so can't look for you. Its a checkable option in one of the palettes.

Oh. and I hope you are using an older version of word. The interface on the newer ones suck (more than the older ones!)
The other issue is that it won't recognise any fonts you use on a mac even cross platform opentype ones. You'll have to get someone on a PC to change all the styles to the fonts you want.

not sure if command + [ works. (move object to the back)

There's a make cover page.. yes. If you edit it, it edit the whole lot.
Also when inserting ANY jpg I get: http://grab.by/4WyT
I've found this pretty helpful (but can't insert an f'ing picture): http://creativetechs.com/tipsblo…

it can be done using sections or 'different odd and even' settings. the fun part is that the settings are scattered throughout the palettes.

Hard to explain but put the image in as a header then seperate the pages with a sections break (link to previous)

menu > insert image from file > select image
Which file formats does it support then?
JPG = no
PNG = no
BMP = noerrrr?

hey meffid, how are you creating the jpg? if you're on a mac then you'll need to save it as a jpg or export it for web and make sure you turn off the colour profile button.
pretty sure jpg is about all you can use but i don't really know.

^ exporting from PS CS3, save for web and tried just save as jpg. (both with colour profile checked and unchecked)
*update: I've successfully got a GIF 128 Dithered in there.
