Holy shit, I gotta play the lottery today. I find myself agreeing with a Mossad officer, the and the biog cheese Mossad guy at that:
"Mossad Chief Meir Dagan said on Tuesday that Israel is progressively becoming a burden on the United States.
"Israel is gradually turning from an asset to the United States to a burden," said Dagan, speaking before the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee."
http://www.haaretz.com/news/dipl…
You got that right, chief.
Nice to know they decided not to simple "sabotage" the ship (I am assuming that would of taken place in another nation's port..what? Again Israel doesn't give a shit about anyone's sovereign territory but there own?) because that would've possibly created a "humanitarian crisis", better to board it from gunships with automatic weapons. Yup.
Burden is right.

By the way, all your Jews and Israelis, disagreeing with Israel's actions is NOT anti-semitism. I think the current Israeli government is a piece of right-wing neocon shit for doing what it does to Palestine, but that does not mean that I hate Jews. I just wish those Jews living in Israel would wake up and elect some more peaceable folks.
- but there are real examples of antisimetism and they need to be opposed vigorouslylowimpakt
- doh - anti semitismlowimpakt
- hmmm after rereading the thread more thoroughly - yeah i guess so.bigtrickagain
- Yeah, look how peaceful the Palestinians are – Israel should be more like them.technikiller
- hamas is at fault too for rocketing israel. but that is like an ant biting a human for stomping on its anthill.bigtrickagain

More on the Israeli blockade of Palestine:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middl…
"Among the large range of goods currently forbidden are jam, chocolate, wood for furniture, fruit juice, textiles, and plastic toys."
"...some of the prohibitions appear to be absurdly arbitrary: "I certainly don't understand why cinnamon is permitted, but coriander is forbidden. Is there something more dangerous about coriander? Is coriander more critical to Gaza's economy than cinnamon? This is a policy that appears to make no sense."

Note that just right before the raid, everyone was told to wear life preservers.
IDF should have had none lethal crowd control.
But this video does seem quite damaging.

Out of some of the nonsense I heard today, UNION involvement in this was just the most absolute crock of shite i've heard.
- JSK0
Few also had gas masks on. I guess they thought that they were going to face tear gas.
IDF thought that these guys will just sit around and do nothing.
Except that when soldiers came down, they were already gathering around and waiting for them to drop to hit them.
Am I really agreeing with Fred?
I wouldn't say set up. They expected that the soldiers would land and stop them. Have some photos of protesters in tear gas etc. Just more organized in expectations for further publicity.

Does it really matter though? Israelis didn't have any right to board the boat.
- JSK0
So are you saying that they asked for it?
- ukit0
Basically the Israeli philosophy is, we'll go anywhere we want, and if you so much as move, we have no choice but to kill you. We may kill you anyway of course.
- So why didnt they just start shooting before they landed?JSK
- Or shoot from flotilla to help the insertion team land safely.JSK
- why shoot at allcannonball1978

To the IDF: How embarrassing.
To everyone: Sharing is caring. Just because you were mercilessly oppressed doesn't give you the right to do the same to others. Have some compassion and some understanding for others ffs.
Obviously the world has to get that straight.
I'm not sorry for putting EVERYONE, all 6+ billion people on the same pot.

Remember the "fake" Palestinian celebrations after 9/11 that got cascaded around the world, well there is nothing fake about these Israelis celebrating the attack on the Turkish Aid Ship - infront of Turkish Embassy in Tewwor (Tel) Aviv.

Flotilla journalist recounts ordeal

British Al-Jazeera reporter recounts his ordeal
I even called the British Foreign Office yesterday and they said they won't do anything until British citizens were taken to Turkey. You can't even trust your own country to save you from Israel. Once you are in Israel, say goodbye to international law, rights and your country coming to help you out.

@ JSK:
Why didn't they take them out remotely, or start popping off rounds downrange the moment they boarded the boat? It could be any number of reasons we're not aware of.
For example, _maybe_ the Israeli government wanted to at least keep some semblence of an appearance of decency (even though they were boarding a vessel outside of their jurisdiction).
Maybe, there were Mossad agents on that boat that had infiltrated the group, and they didn't want to grease them accidentally by taking them out from land.
Or, maybe, they wanted to bait the crew of the boat into attacking them, thereby polarising opinion in Israel's favour.
It could even be a combination of the above.
The point is, we don't know anything about the decision-making behind this operation. We only know what we see through the media ... and it doesn't look good for Israel at all.
- what we do know is israel kille a bunch of unarmed humanitarian workers on a boat in international waterscannonball1978
- by your logic we dont know anything about anything. israel might not even be realcannonball1978
- Basically, yeah.Continuity
- Well, it's not that we don't know anything about anything; we _do_ see the net results, which is the most important.Continuity
- What I'm saying is, we don't know if things didn't transpire differently for other reasons I speculated on.Continuity
- ukit0
It depends on whether you think Israel should have the right to intercept any boat they want, whether it's in their territory or not.
It's the same as if a bunch of Iranians parachuted onto an Israeli boat and started waving guns around.
- Israel has a history of extra-territorial operations of questionable legality. In my view, they have no right.Continuity

@DPS - what an absolute load of brainwashed hogwash!
Maybe you should take a short visit over to Nablus or Gaza city, and visit the camps there, maybe drink their contaminated (by illegal settler sewage) water, or try and go to work and go through several road checks, be humiliated everyday, restrict your movement, your education, your method of income, you can't go see your own children or mother or get medical care. In fact if you were shot in the leg you would probably be dead at the checkpoint, because you are stopped by the IDF from getting to a hospital.
The Flotilla ship has nothing but aid and westerners on board, a peaceful attempt to bring aid to a much needed ghettoised and oppressed people. I know several people personal, from Britain, charity aid workers, who are injured for one humanitarian cause - to help the people of Palestine.
Palestine is occupied by Israel, a so-called democratic country that violates more UN treaties than any other country in the world. It cares not for its neighbours and receives the highest US Aid than the whole of Africa put together!
Stop living in your bubble and go see how Palestinians are suffering from Israeli aggression across the other side of the separation wall. Take your biased bullshit somewhere else.
Yes Israel has a right to defend itself, but why aren't Palestinians allowed to do the same? Hell, they don't even live like humans any more, because Israel has boxed them into a bantustans.
Before you reply with your biased bullshit, I have been to Palestine several times - seen the conditions Palestinians live in and realised the truth. I ain't Arab or Palestinian, I ain't Jewish or Israeli. Just someone who reads the truth from all angles.

JSK, no matter what you said,
They had no right to attack the boat,
the float was still in international water and it is considered piracy to do what they did,
now you can twist and turn the readiness of the activist,
The idf is still wrong, they are trigger happy pigs (here I said it) and should stop getting a blank pass to do the fuck they want.- They also boarded 5 other ships without incident.JSK
- So because no-one pulled the trigger on those five other boats, makes it OK for Israel to board any vessel in international waters?Continuity
- ... waters?Continuity
- No one pulled trigger or no one attacked them? Its just how see say it.JSK
- BTW dont think I am agreeing with what Israel has done by boarding in international waters.JSK
- Just keep an open mind. Everyone is always trying to play one side or another.JSK
- I tried to keep an open mind for years. I've seen enough.Continuity
- But thats what makes you different from radicals.JSK
