why would a designer not produce the raw html templates for you to work with? if you're working with designers who dont at least know html and css for web work you need to change your designers!
- I don't know html or css and web work is about 20% of my jobmonospaced

lol, yeah, designers should know css and html and aftereffects and as3 and javascript and 3dstudio max and ruby and dovetail joints and apache server configuration at least.
- yeah, who cares if they can make it look goodmonospaced
- lol at dovetail jointsMHDC

No offense to anyone in particular... but
We all like to think we have the perfect system, and we all probably do, but truth is, when that file gets on someone else's hands, is going to be a nightmare..
NO MATTER HOW TIDY AND ORGANIZED YOU THINK YOU ARE
I mean, of course there are extreme situations were the files are just going to be a complete mess, and there is a big chance that either of these happened:
a) Whoever made the file originally is not really a designer, but your client's niece.
b) Is a designer in training, be nice and explain how to do it.
(remember that were were all there at some point)c) He was your new client's previous designer, and your client owe him money, but decided that they would rather scam someone else, he has every right to give you a complete mess (and you better thank him that he even consider giving you the files).

NO SHIT. I can't stand deciphering files, spending more time cleaning them than working on them. I have the decency to send out immaculate files, and I guess I'm insane to expect the same from others.
- Preach!Geith
- I do the samesigg
- Not according my CD. This is his pet peeve. Its funny how much shit comes in. That we have to clean up.rodzilla

And I'm not even talking PSD files. I'm talking stray empty text boxes in InDesign, ignorance of grids/guides, the list goes on...

Flattening sucks.
Naming i only do when i know the psd's have to go to a supplier, like web dev's.

Layer 146 copy 6
I feel your pain. What's worse is that here I spent a lot of time coming up with a bullet-proof PSD template, sent it to the team, told them we'd be using it moving forward and I have to sit here and open their files for review and I see shit like that all over the place. Footer graphics are at the bottom of the layers, and some at the very top, nothing is named.

fuck those lazy asses. Know what really steams my clams? When you select a text field and see 14.061 pt.
DON'T SCALE YOUR TEXT FIELDS.. GIVE YOUR TYPE A PROPER SIZE PLEASE.

can someone please explain to me the need for hyper detailed psds? I've had to slice jpg's before, what exactly is the problem?
- If we have to explain it, you wouldn't understand it anyways. So why bother.sigg
- If someone else is going to be editing the file, not just slicing up for web.orrinward
- It's nice to have a good structure and labelled items. I'm bad for it but trying to improve.orrinward
- that makes sense orrinquack
- DOES IT QUACK? DOES IT?!?!sigg
- if other people are to work from it yes, but if it is a final, i don't get itquack
- Css 2 & 3 and xhtml & html 5 are not made by automaticly slicing psdstaxiguerrilla

I'm still not sure, after 10 years, why anyone would ever flatten a PSD. That's what JPG is for, nubs.
- We had a guy we worked with that did that. He always thought he was going to be the only one working with the files.discoduro
- WTF? Why would you want your own PSD files flattened anyway?ETM
- I tend to do a duplicate all layers and flatten at certain points so I have snapshots that save, but I don't flatten and lose layers.orrinward
- lose the layersorrinward
