no, actually I'm just angry at BP, they do not have a very good record of maintaining their facilities very well (at all) in the us.
- airey0
so get everyone in the world to stop using bp.
and best of luck with that. it's easier for people to stand on a soapbox and pretend (or kid themselves) to give a fuck than to actually do anything themselves.

This isn't even an oil spill anyway. Oil spill almost makes it sound like it's already over. Whoops spilled some oil; there goes the Gulf of Mexico, possibly the Caribbean and worst case scenario the eastern seaboard.
- Throw a few hurricanes through the slick and who knows how far inland that stuff will go.IRNlun6

Wasn't the whole premise of expanding offshore drilling supposed to be that it's safe?
Clearly not.

Drilling, Disaster, Denial
By Paul Krugman"courting irreversible environmental disaster for the sake of a few barrels of oil, an amount that will hardly affect our dependence on imports, is a terrible bargain."

man, we are constantly spilling this shit.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lis…this BP spill is suppose to hit the amount of the Exxon spill of '89, but not even close to the Gulf War spill...

Surely these 'caps' or domes or whatever the fuck they are using to plug this thing...surely they should have a gazillion of these fuckers ready to be deployed the minute something like this happens...I mean for fuck's sake, this is an industry that is dripping money. Why are these caps not mandatory on oil rigs?
Or am I just being too simplistic here?
- i wanted to say no, but at least 1 or 2, yeah, i'd think soquack

awww...how cute.

It's an oil volcano...
- xcarlx0
i wonder if this anything to do with the fact that the rig was not anchored to the sea floor with anything but the pipe bringing the oil up....that just seems like a bad idea from the beginning.
- I don't get the logic of those kinds of platforms either. Been reading a bunch about these things.mg33

British Columbia still wants to go ahead with off-shore drilling
while Obama has put a stop to it now even though the ban was recently lifted. Good for him. Too bad Canada won't learn from this. We'll be drilling into very unstable areas in the Queen Charlotte Islands.

We can't control an oil flow and they want to create miniature black holes in Switzerland and attempt to create a miniature star in California...
Awaits quacks rebuttal. :D
