    Hi Guys,
    Tecnical Question.
Would anybody happen to know how to take a pic in photoshop and break it into 4 layers C M Y and K...Like I used to duplicate the pic four times and then change each layer to C, M, Y and K. I used to do it with the channel mixer ...but I cant seem to get it to work in CS4...either that or I am missing something completely...Last time I did it I think was on CS1...when I select a channel mixer the output channel is already on cyan 100% with MYK on 0% but the layer looks the same....i have to be missing something here...

    Thanks a million,

    Evin

(Note: I am only posting this because I am at my wits end. This appeal is meant for the nice designers out there. Before I get called out for being a complete bellend, I put my hands up, I am shit...blah blah blah...please, all you arseholes out there that thrive on bullying people online save your snide comments and bullshit remarks, again this appeal is only for people who wouldnt mind lending a hand. If you fancy bullying someone online please do it to somewhere else)

    Print to PDF, output separations.

I've had this same problem. Not sure if this is the best way but I duplicated the layer 4 times. For each layer I opened 'Blending Options' and in the 'Advanced Blending' box, turned off all but C channel for layer 1, M for layer 2 etc...

Each channel is now it's own layer.

If you want, File > Scripts > Layers to files.

    • thats how ive done it in the past... but i thought i was doing it, " the long way round" would like to know also...._me_
    • Agree. This was how I circumnavigated rather than solved the problem. Ha.neandersthal

Guys thank you so much...I spent four hours trying to figure out why the hell I couldnt do this anymore...so its basically the exact same effect as the old way except no need to change the layers to multiply in the end...
