Pal to NTSC help.

I've made a load of assets at PAL (designed to fit nicely in the typesafe area etc.
However I now need to convert all those to Pal. Obviously I can change the composition settings to NTSC automatically but stuff like a bug' will be way off in the typesafe area - due to different sizes.
Also a circle features predominantly. When I created this I made it at 768 x 576 Pal and squeezed into a 720 comp (hence the cirle looks like an elipse but is correct when rescanned). Is this the same case with NTSC? should a cirle look eliptical for rescanning or should it ACTUALLY be a circle in NTSC.

why can't you just reposition/resize the bug and other things at the new composition size?

It's the ratio of building 768 comps of square pixels into rectangular pixels for Pal - which squashes stuff but I expect this in PAL as it gets rescanned and everything looks cool. If I dupe the comp and change settings to D1 NTSC it squashes everything to be eliptical in the vertical plane (obviously PAl squashes 768 to be eliptical in the horizontal plane). Bet that doesn't make sense. Basically I'm in the dark as to whether a circle should look eliptical in NTSC to get rescanned for broadcast and if it does (which I suspect) what is the expedient way of achieving this - working from Pal to NTSC

if you've built it 768x576 sq px, just drop that comp into a 720x486 non-sq px comp. then hit apple+option+F to squeeze that layer into the comp dimensions. cirlces will look like circles. action and title safe zones will be the same
- This makes the footage fit but the circle is squashed verticallybabaganush

I feel like I know the method in an academic sense, but never done. You've probably tried the Google, but there are some docs on the Adobe site addressing.

if you have interlaced footage, you will also need to take into consideration the upper field dominance of PAL with the lower field dominance of NTSC.

toggle the "pixel aspect ratio correction" in the comp window. ovals will look like circles when you toggle it, and this is normal for when viewing non square pixels of TV on a computer.
