Without reading any of the comments in the is thread I'm going to guess that there are a number of measured/balanced responses which take into account that greenhouses gasses are bad regardless if they are actually warming our planet.
I'm also going to guess that there are a ton of bat shit crazy responses which categorically deny global warming, made by the same people who fill the politics thread with right wing rants.
Am I right?

So I was looking into what the state of global warming was circa 30 years ago, as someone mentioned '30 years ago everyone thought the earth was cooling' or something along those lines. You can discredit the source all you want I just thought it seemed accurate enough.

Whether it's global warming or the increase in prople starving or species of animals being wiped out, there are thousands of reasons why we need to stop our shit.
Basically, if and these fucking people would stop squeezing out 20 fucking babies by the time they're 30, all the problems would go the fuck away! It's not that the people use too much, it's that there are just too many fucking people!
What I dont get is that the most hardcore environmentalist will be chatting to their friend and be all like "oooh congratulations on being a nice normal healthy, successful person" when they pop out their 20th.. but you can raise 2 kids to be so brilliantly efficient, then have a third and just fuck it all up!
One kid per person. Bang. what couple needs more than 2? In Britain, if they stopped giving out free money to 16yr old slappers as a reward for fucking, it's be a start..

Here's where I stand on a few things related to the subject.
1. I really can't stand this being a political thing. I've got quite a few friends back in Texas that I keep up with on Facebook, many of whom are Republicans, and after the freak 9-12 inches of snow they had in the Dallas area last week, I saw more than enough "What's that about global warming? Al Gore doesn't know shit!"
It bothers me that people fail to realize that out-of-place snowstorms really aren't evidence of global warming NOTexisting.2. Secondly, it bothers me even more that a consensus simply can't come to an agreement that it's just plain fucking awful to keep pumping pollution into the atmosphere on an always increasing scale. The scientific proof is there, right? Dispute and disagree with what you want about global warming being real or not, but at a basic level can't people recognize that not only are we continuing to pollute the air more and more everday, but we're over-foresting, over-fishing, over-using just about everything to sustain the global population?

HOw can you call it a "hoax" anyway? Seems like it would have to be a pretty vast international conspiracy, like a systematic attempt to defraud millions of people/businesses and control the energy industry or something ... not quite a "hoax", seems like anyone who calls it a "hoax" does not understand the implications whether its real or fictional.
