  Been comissioned to design a logo with bulb / lighting feature for a Theatre Lighting Company called Greenlight.

  Got a few ideas, along a similar vein of the below.

  

  But does anyone have some examples of some others?

  I'll no doubt share the designs for crit :)

  One quick thought: Theatre lighting is a lot more than the bulb...as you'll see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sta…

  There are very iconic forms in theatre lighting, like box lights, for example.

  I'd caution against the bulb concept because the logo could quickly read as being for a green energy company with 'smart ideas.'

  Yeah the bulb idea came from the client originally, but thanks for the advice, I'll play around with a few concepts. I was thinking for along the 'shafts' of light, trapezium and triangular shapes.

  I didn't fancy going down the omg-how-obvious route of:

  I think the most important feature of a theatre lighting company, is the lighting artists' ability to transform the way things are perceived using light.

  I think the transformational aspect is worth showing via the logo design. It should be more than just making something visible via a lightbulb.

  The idea being that the logo is actually NEVER seen in print, but rather through shadows/light cast by embossing, debossing, dramatic lighting etc...

  well not really but funny story.
  i made this for an exercise for an interview about 3 years ago.

  I met the guy who would have been my direct boss and got on really well with him. There and then I scheduled the 2nd interview and talked about a 'design and build' task.

  However upon leaving it was pouring down with rain, my umbrella flipped inside out and I got soaked going home.

  I caught a brutal cold, and tried to re-arrange the 2nd interview, but the 'client' was only in town that week and off on holiday for a fortnight, so they wanted to get it in before he went away.

  the brief was supposed to be for a logo and a web page for a travel insurance company that would take you to space so I got doped up on lemsips and 'got to work'

  the day of the 2nd interview came and I was still ropey. I met the 'client' who was pretty much the in house marketing guy, shook his hand and caught myself off guard.
  I coughed flem onto my lip right after shaking hands with the guy and was fucking mortified.

  I managed to recover a bit by the guy who brought me in by explaining my illness and them taking one look at me and thinking 'shit, he shouldn't be here'.

  Upon critiquing the work all the 'client' could muster was. 'it looks like a light bulb',

  Did the client ever explain why they are called "Greenlight"?

  Seems like a very traffic-oriented name for stage lighting.

  Just curious, really.
