I've got a pair of monsoon speakers + Amp (
) that I've used as a make shift sound system for halloween... for all the creepy sounds. Unfortunately I think I've done some damage to them and they aren't sounding the greatest these days. :)Yeah, I know... stupid.
Anyway, I'm looking to upgrade to a better system. Problem is I'm not an audiophile. I want to purchase something that:
1. sounds great (duh)
2. I can play my music on my computer
3. something that sounds great for movies (when I watch something while I work)
4. I'd like to hang/attach to my ceiling so something that is designed for that purpose.I've read good things about http://www.monitoraudiousa.com and http://www.audioengineusa.com ... but I'm just a little gunshy.. especially since I can't test drive them.
I'm kinda splurging so, at this point, all suggestions are welcomed.

what's your budget? I assume you want something powered vs separates? the ceiling is not a good place to put speakers, or anywhere near a wall/corner. you can get brackets to wall mount any speakers though, but for optimal quality they should be at ear level.

Acescence... Powered means they'd have built in amplifiers but also require more wiring? Like individually powered with their own plug in? Correct?
I'd prefer a cleaner approach... like the one I have... each speaker wired to subwoofer.
In regards to ceiling mounted... my office is in the basement and the ceiling is a bunch of joists. I imagined attaching to the joists and pointing downwards towards where I sit. Not a good scenario?
I guess maybe I'm envisioning something more like a surround sound you'd build around an entertainment system... only for my office. hm...
