Watched it last night. Can't say i liked it but i was prepared to c some 'Fuck yeah' movie anyway. Avatar is a mix of Pocahontas (as many before me said) and kinda all of earlier Miyazaki movies. That said ill prolly buy the crap once its on Bluray to play it to my grandchildren when they turn 3 =).

although impressed by the "effects" (3d) I don't feel that is was anything significant, now i have to admit to it being some time (a decade, at least 3652 days since my last 3d movie) but was my imagination that much greater when i was 21-22?
i doubt it, but i remember enjoying 3d movies then if not much earlier as a child and believing there to be some depth to them and not a blue red mess that our parent would complained giving them headaches.
I saw several very sharp images in layers on top of one another and was baffled at why the text hung out there floating during the video diaries but aside from those details you never see anything affected by depth of field in a natural manner. either a layer was in focus or it wasn't.
i took my glasses off several times to look at the rgb splits and was mostly amazed with the rich color capable of coming through those recyclable glasses being worn in the dark

- Good point - those glasses are pretty crap. I'm sure it looks better with technology that theatres probably can't affordukit
- i'd pay more for a ticket if there were better glasses somewhereversion3
- Maybe that;s the plot of Avatar 2 -quest for the better 3D Glassesukit

all these long blah blah blah ti's a remake of this vs that and a little bit of this can be boiled down to one show... did you ever see a bugs life? exact same story

the 3D version was sold out so we had to go to the "living room theater" section of the megaplex, which was cool 'cause it's 21 and over and you can drink beer.
I thought it was just OK. Typical hollywood script but was very cartoonish. Thought I was watching a He-Man cartoon at one point.
I wonder if i saw the 3D version if i would have been more impressed.
Oh the best part was all the aliens boobs!

dutch movie critics named it another turn in cinema, another mark.. so maybe i should go and try to appreciate it for what it is?

very disney.. but just so damn freakin awesome on the fun and visual side of things. ..and to be honest something that full of awesome, I don't really want too much of an intricate plot.. I want an easy rollercoaster ride. But I do just wish it was a little less predictable.
My verdict? Go an see it. Spark up a fatty beforehand too- trust me. (maybe thats why i seem to have liked it more than the rest of you)

Some movies are more spectacle than art...
Like The Wizard of Oz. Not a great movie, but it introduced the world to color film.
- < Oh ukit that is such a silly statement. Oz is amazing on its own.luckyorphan

"This article is so dead on. I'm an iceberg and I don't appreciate the way my fellow friends were represented in Titantic, let's hire the marines to invade hollywood "
