ah yeah suiiiiiits.....i like suits...but never had one...and will never spend my cash on that.
I understand the nice look about it...but it is nothing else than a "uniform" isnt it?
I learnt many years ago that you can wear a suit and be a bastard or can wear casual clothes and be the prolific and friendly guy.
Basically, the suit only projects a kind of image - professional image which isnt always the true image....What is your true personnality?
Mine is casual - no tie - no suit....but polished shoes.
Good luck anyway for your suit in NYC.
- So the next time you're at a funeral you'll just be that casual, prolific, friendly guy?pylon
- you can't wear a suit and be friendly and "prolific" at the same time? since when?iCanHasQBN

i bought a new one the other day - being skinny makes it very tough. I can't buy off the rack and usually have them ordered and tailored at an awesome store in KC - I got an email saying Crew added new small suit sizes, so I tried it out, and it fits great! I had to have the vest taken in some though.

I took advantage of this a while ago:

I got a black and a navy suit for the price of one, but definitely go in and get fitted for the look you are going for. You’ll most likely use it for life too so consider that..

You might get lucky with Salvation Armani!
Seriously, I did find a pair of Armani pants at the Salvation Armani once, and a brooks brother shirt and a couple of nice suits for lunch money. Most of the stuff had dry cleaners tags on it, like it was leftover from people who didn't pick it up. I spent the rest of the $$$ on a monitor and took my friends out for beer. I'm in Chicago, not NYC, so "the suit" may not be such a litmus test of business though...

Please don't take offence, but fuck me... you have to come to internet to ask about buying a suit?

My two friends just bought custom made suits from http://www.indochino.com/
They paid about 500 bucks for a 3 piece suit. The site has more expensive and cheaper options. Apparently if it doesn't fit correctly they give you $75 to use at any tailor. Neither of my friends had to get there suits altered. I was impressed...
- oblib - somehow missed your posting, but yes...good stuff there.dpulito

I just bought bought an off the rack suit at Macy's for around $350 including the shirt. Don't go to the suits section but go to the Men's casual section where Calvin Klein, Armani Exchange, Kenneth Cole and other brands like that are displayed. It was a slim fit modern looking suit not the baggy pant interview/business type suite.
They had a deal if you opened a Macy's card you got 35 or 40% off, so I did that and paid it off the second the bill arrived and shredded the card.
Good Luck.

I use a custom tailor in NYC that you'll get an amazing suit + a custom shirt for under $1000. You just have to know what you are looking for in the suit (ei. cut, style, etc)

Zara or.... Target... Target suits actually look pretty modern and once tailored look great.
