Anyone know of any examples of animations that are sort of the style of Si Scott, e.g swirly flowy type animations... i.e like his illustration if it could move? Thanks.

James, he does have, somewhere, a stop motion animation of him drawing a title illustration for the BBC. Don't know if that's any help but it might be on Youtube if you thought that was of of possible use.
It was for a BBC show about design, or drawing. If the name of the show pops into my head I'll post back.

Revealing masks on flourish-y things was a pretty big trend a couple years ago. Everyone from Food Network to Tampon commercials.
Video Copilot even has a disc full of stock stuff like it.

I am sure the charlotte church stuff he did was with mainframe, might take some searching on there site but worth it.

Heh, blast from the past, I animated that Si Scott stuff a few years ago whilst I was at Mainframe. Si drew it by hand, I re-drew it and then animated it in After Effects on some crazy quick turn around iirc.
