heading back to amsterdam with a group of buddies in early nov.
hows the scene there?
I hear they're trying to tighten the grip on the whole coffee shop thing.... and the red light....
has it gotten any worse since june?

you should just go over, and ask the locals, how's the scene and then go in for a high five.

coffeshops are still everywhere, but a lot of the red light has already been cleaned up... mushrooms are now truffles... most of the expats have left... the ones who haven't are largely unemployed and the dutch, well, they're still tall and wearing white pants with no shame...
- there are still whores around though, there's more than one red light area..neue75_bold
- tents. you forgot to mention they are pitching tents.lvl_13

i know shrooms aren't legal anymore (which is dumb)... its weird walking around seeing the head shops with the mushroom signs but they don't sell..
so neue.... truffles? whats the deal with them?
yeah they in the last 4 years i've been going, theres been less and less in the red light....
i mean, who the fuck wants to see a window with womens clothing when you're walking in the red light in amsterdam?
the new govmnt is going to destroy the city.... no ones going to visit anymore the way things are heading. sad

truffles are about as potent as philosopher stones, so I do recommend, but yeah, the smart shops still sell loads of other bits, though not worth your money...
As a resident I'm ok with less tourism, especially the blokes coming over for stag weekends and such.. The city is trying to focus more on bringing in international businesses, and they've just recently declared English as the official second language.. They spend a lot of money courting companies like Taxi and trying to get them to open shop here, as the economy does much better in the long run with stable sources of income like that..
I agree though, it may really hurt them initially...
- I grew up near niagara falls, so I may have a slightly more traumatic view on tourism then most...neue75_bold

i think its a bad move.... bigtime.... you cant take away the history of the city.... people go there to get high and/or get laid.
- maybe they're reclaiming an earlier history when it was prude calvinists with big shipping interestsGreedo
