Geez there is a lot of replication going on these days. What ever happened to pushing the medium and coming up with something inspiring and unique.

I would simply create another indexhibit template or a Wordpress theme like everyone is using.

this just in: apparently we all have different esthetic tastes, and use our websites as a filter to draw in likeminded individuals

"Now we're noticing the trend towards clean HTML sites"
did you just wake up? anyway that's bullshit.

HTML sites looking like a Wordpress or Indexhibit is just laziness on the part of the person making the site.
Pretty much anything is possible in either format, so don't use HTML or Flash as an excuse, you can have a clean layout in Flash or custom fonts and full screen animation in HTML.
Having said that, HTML is the native format of the web and easier to content manage/ better for SEO/ displays on multiple devices so why not use it?

Silverlight is the new trend!

New trend is not to have a site but just a webcam where you hold up printouts of your work with your head cropped out of the picture.

We just released our new site, http://www.publicclass.se. Made the first dummie tests in AS3 then converted all of it to haXe and compiled as js.

hey now that's what i'm talking about. Fancy dynamic language conversions.
Site seems a little buggy, like that preloader graphic shows up a second after a click, which is too long.
What problems did you run into with that haXe to JS conversion?

Have to agree the whole wordpress website is so very boring these days and heaven forbid going with a colour other than white as a background.
- stonebranch0
That sounds weird, this is one of the problems of not using flash. When standards are not being followed ( IE ) this will give you a hard time if you are not experienced coding CSS and js that will make it work cross browser. Someone else experiencing the same problem with the preloader?
Unfortunately I can't find the old swfs, I'll try to take a look in time machine later. The conversion was pretty easy to do since we always use pureMVC as framework and coding haXe is really similar to actionscript.

your site (pollen) is really nice - well done. its cool as it is.

yea stonebranch, it would be great to have a tutorial for AS3 to haXe to JS. I imagine you have to avoid using a lot of the Flash API, like bitmap drawing, crazy color matrix tweening and all that to make it convertible, or is it really magic?

best of both worlds? Curious to what other flash devs think of this.
