following the political logic of logos and their emblematic history i don't see why anybody should be surprised.

Not that I'm going to assign tin foil hat nurtured meaning to modern day logos, but makes sense. I always figured the concept of logos had its roots in coats of arms and flags and whatnot, which have all kinds of deeper meanings.
