not super impressed by what i heard.
Supergroups never live up to the hype. Especially when the hype is this monumental.

Just got back from a concert in Detroit at the Fillmore and can honestly say I was not disappointed.
The music can be classified as American-grunge blues-rock, with some heavy hints of nirvana, queens and foo thrown in for good measure.
The Show:
John Paul Jones wasn't quite as high in the mix as i'd have liked him to be but he did manage to nab a few solos. Dave Grohl proved he is indeed still a monster on the kit, while Homme shredded and played tasty muddy-waters / zz-tops inspired licks. The rhythm guitarist did a good job of providing a heavy mid-range sound.Overall:
All in all it was short, sweet and louder than hell - not overperformed and not underpformed. Which is exactly what you want to see from this kind of group.I rate this:
★★★★★

Tickets on sale at 10am today. Not sure I want to drop £32.50 on it though.

There is a really short teaser (audio) clip on youtube, but that's all I've seen. It sounded like a random sample of QOTSA (no surprise there). I hope it's better than Eagles of Death Metal.

My first impression: decent background music, much better listening than Chickenfoot.
Second impression: hey! Josh Homme stole my riff! And why are there so many different bands with a song called 'Elephants'?
Third impression: I'm sick and tired of Dave Grohl's drumming.
Fourth impression: Shit! Josh Homme's voice is starting to sound better, I'm noticing more keyboards, and the album is starting to shake the floor a bit.
Fifth impression: I'm really fucking liking this album... 'Reptiles' has hints of vintage Scorpions, in addition to the obvious Zep/QotSA similarities.Listen to it all the way through a few times. Turn it up each time. It gets better with each subsequent listen. If you must, think of it as Era Vulgaris but slightly less cynical and sarcastic, more power hungry.

hahah - does sound like QOTSA...
I've recently gotten into Witch. Similar in sound - but with a SCREAMING vocalist... sounds a lot like Robert Plant at times... speaking of Led Zeppelin

A coworker of mine went to the show and said it was unreal. All the reviews I've seen said it was amazing. They were kicking people out left and right for recording video.
Metro has a 1,000 person capacity; I would be willing to bet they only released half that as tickets for the public. There were apparently tons of artists from Lollapalooza there, lots of invited guests, etc.

I have the presale password for the Portland Show.
Should I be greedy and buy the ticket limit or just the 3 tickets I need?
