^ lol. funny how some reports talk about a "nuclear bomb", others just put in evidence that Google has a widgety view of computing.

Nairn you don't seem to realize Google's offering for the corporate client. It's not only Google Apps that manage your organization's email/calendar/docs. It's ie. rack-mountable Google Search Appliance, a cheese-faced device indexing and letting you search your company's digital assets - pretty useless, judging by my experience at a large company that had one of those.

first geared at Netbooks, but coming from Google sounds promising.
It's not going to replace Windows or OS X any time soon.

This is exciting stuff, even if it's just for netbooks. It will be interesting to see what OS integration with web apps looks like in Google's vision.
I can see how HTML 5 and the offline storage capabilities could play a big part in this.

I couldn't imagine running online only. In my studio (music) I don't have the internet plugged in (by design). Also, when developing sites, I run on my own test server more than anything. Apps running online will never be as fast as apps running off of your hard-drive.

best commentary:

"Fuck the iPhone. Mobiles have been doing everything it does for years already. Only now it's fashionable.
I fail to see how the iPhone is relevant at all."Yes they all did it, but they had such shitty interfaces that it was a pain to do any of it. Thats why the iPhone is relevant because its interface design enables users to finally use 100% their phones features.

"Microsoft had better hope so, or its claim that 96% of netbooks run Windows is going to be very different in a year."
Yeah... Linux was king of the netbooks and then Microsoft tightened the screws on the hardware company thumbs and changed all that. Oh and also people returned a load of them because it wouldn't run word or whatever they like to use in windows.I won't hold my breath with Googles current product disasters
