    ...please!

i am planning on visiting nyc in a few weeks and i've never been before. i'd like (economical) suggestions on which hotel/area to stay in so i can see the most museums and make the best out of the trip. any particular restaurants i must eat at? any places i absolutely must see?

i will also need to go to edison, nj for half a day for a wedding. i am not planning on renting a car.

any and all suggestions would be wonderful. thank you!

hotel: the more economical the better. i understand this is NYC so less then $100/night might be difficult. but whatever works.

how long: planning on staying for 5 days

what's important: museums, food, art scene, sight seeing, culture -- night life is least important.

    • culture, art, food sights only happen at night, NYC is closed for repairs all day.e-pill1/6
these things can happen at night, sure. by nightlight i meant the bar scene, clubs, chicks -- the patrick bateman lifestyleemukid2/6

What 500 a night? 200 night? 300? Whats your ideal? Whats wrong with people afraid to give dollar numbers. I am not going to rob you

    • So just assault and battery then?locustsloth1/8
haha. ideally $100 a night but i realize that might be difficult. so as close to $100 as possible. that is what i was trying to say.emukid2/8
i am poor. feel free to rob me though.emukid3/8
      You drink? Got healthy liver?JourNYC4/8
yes and yes. will drinking a lot reduce my hotel costs? if so, i am all for it!emukid5/8
it will reduce your standards to be sure, emu.

don't forget to visit the memorial piece of sidewalk where e-pill broke his wrist after slipping on the ice.

it has more ambience, obviously, during the winter months, but do see if you have the chance.

e-pill can be found there sporadically at the gift shop. he'll sign your "i slipped on a piece of shit patch of ice on the way to an interview and all i got was this fucking t-shirt" tee

    • careful, he may attempt to get you firedlocustsloth

This is what I would suggest for hotels. See the link and see which hotel you want to be in. Ideally, midtown / timesquare works because its central and you can go to all the museum with an ease.

After you found a hotel, post some of the names here and we can tell you how good / shitty it is.

After, do not book through the site BUT call the hotel and ASK for 5 day discount. Usually cheaper.
