  Even more specific: highway/urban commuting, not full on crotch-rocket, possible to get the girl on the back.

  I've heard good things about the Suzuki SV650 as a light, nimble bike.

  I've spent the most time riding on these two in the past, and been happy with both for different kinds of attributes. Would like to go perhaps lower cost than a Ducati and see what's out there.

  the sv is a great bike, dont fall into the stigma attached to the smaller cc bikes as not being capable/girlie bikes. Do you have any prior experience??

  My 03 kawasaki z1000 has served me very well, they can be had on the cheap (never a popular model..) and are crazy cheap to insure for a litre bike (lack the sportbike designation with the insurance companyies). Comfortable enough for 300+ mile days and reasonably passenger friendly...

  another monster rider here. great bike under 8500 euro. as I am over 190cm, it is a bit small for me, but my wife, who is 165cm tall, has the perfect riding position. I ride it daily between 40 to 70 km, and it makes me happy.

  This is the only Harley I've ever liked. My buddy has one and it's such a wicked bike. You can get a 2008 for around $10,000, which is pretty good for a Harley.
