Leica D-LUX 4 is exactly the same product as Lumix LX3. Check the spec's. Your just paying more for Leica and the red logo.
- just like people pay for a bmw logo i guessephix
- is bmw just a logo on someone elses product?mydo
- i meant the fact that people would pay more for the leica even though the lumix is the sameephix
- and people buy a bmw for more money than something else that is cheaper and pretty much the same or better.ephix
- instead of buying a bmw because they didn't have the balls to buy a Caterham 7 and a crash helmetmydo
- :) and sure, higher end bmw's are very nice just like leica, just the cheap ones aren't worth it unless you're a suckerephix

Leica's are just panasonic in a nicer box. as far as i can tell their compact cameras don't do anything else other than look awesome.
is the LX3 really better than the G10, i was convinced the G10 was the best thing EVER.

G10 is great but my choice was LX3

LX3 has a slightly better image quality (less noise, sharper) than G10, is smaller and lighter, and has greater aperture (2-2.8 compared to 2.8-4.5). But G10 as larger focal range... my choice would be LX3 (or Leica for a "made in Leica" image processing which appears to be the only difference vs. Panasonic)

The only difference between the Leica and the LX3 is the saturation level which is controlled by the camera's onboard software (and can easily be changed in Photoshop)
Leica = More natural color
Lumix = More color saturation

Thanks for the info, everyone! I suppose I'll just have to compare the two.

I'll post some test images when I get the camera.

The Lumix GF1 just came out. Might snatch it.
“Though small in size, the LUMIX GF1 does not compromise in advanced features. The LUMIX GF1 thoroughly optimizes the advantages of a system camera to ensure high performance, whether capturing photos or HD video. The LUMIX GF1 also comes fully-equipped with a built-in flash and a large, 3.0-inch Intelligent LCD with a wide viewing angle and a 460,000-dot resolution.
The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GF1 will be available in early October 2009 with the option of two kits – both with a suggested retail price (SRP) of $899.95. One kit option includes the newly-announced LUMIX G 20mm/F1.7 ASPH, a compact and lightweight “pancake” lens, while the other kit features the LUMIX G VARIO 14-45mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S. The optional Live View Finder DMW-LVF1 has an SRP of $199.95; while the DMW-MA2M and DMW-MA3R both have an SRP of $249.95.”
