HBO could take lessons from David Lynch on how to deliver to a fan service.
Greatest thing on TV, possibly ever (which is surprising as my family had a part of a castle and i spent time holidays wondering its 'dungeons' and reading king Arthur - i should be all over GoT, weren't it for its dire writing)
What lynch and frost has created and the team has delivered is nothing short of incredible. You can see that people are having a great time and there is no abuse on the set. Pre to post. You don't see this these days. GoT you can hear the screams of VFX artist from around the world with each flap of the dragons wing. There feels no love in it.
The writing and scenes are always, always a treat.
David Lynch and/or Frost is basically declaring either they are masons or they are obsessed by the occult. Which is fascinating:
Crowley-isum, masonic numbering systems, paintings on the wall and the pine cone on the mic-stand. The good lodge vs the bad lodge. UFO - blue rose. etc fucking A. Valued member - unvalued member. Love in the good and the corruption of hte bad.
My only complaint is they are so obsessed with this 'secret' history (as i have sort of revealed I am!) it feels they are sort of making a modern American Harry potter. Not sure how i feel about that but non-the-less this is master filmaking at its best.

This really is masterful work - has been some of the best TV in quite some time

And.... He's back!
"I am the FBI." - Agent Dale Cooper- That was so great. I watched it twice on Sunday.CyBrainX
- fantastic episode. worth watching twice in deed.renderedred
- my treat tonight! So good.
That was cold even in Bob's terms!mugwart - I loved the pissed off Russian scene. And Diane, of course...renderedred
- ^ so good. So many wonderful small moments that added up to an incredible episode.mugwart
- I've heard that guy was Polish. I expect to see him again or get some explanation.CyBrainX
- me too, he seems a character Russian or Polish...renderedred

I like how Lynch was able to bring in so many people from his past films...Laura Dern (always found her kind of annoying but was good as Diane), Naomi Watts, Balthazar Getty, etc.
If this winds up being his final work it's not a bad way to end.
- think it is. Lynch always holds back on revealing mysteries. Hes revealing all of them now. I hear he is retiring after this...gutted love this mans workmugwart
- I've heard him say he would do season 4 if this year goes well. Showtime only says they need to talk. I bet they work something out.CyBrainX
- ^ that would be incredible...also means that there will be a cliff hanger ... ;-(
is Aldery better not be in a lodge!mugwart

i wonder if they share a universe despite tarantino supposedly dissing on twin peaks:
- such similar charactersjaylarson
- didn't think about that, interesting... i learned to expect anything from lynch...renderedred

If Diane was effected by the kiss and taken to become a 'tulpas'.
Is Audrey also stuck in a similar lodge? Is the next book/season about cooper getting Audrey back? Sort of hope not..

After rewatching some of the early episodes, it's interesting how much the later episodes shed light on the previous ones.
For instance, the "got a light" guys from episode 8 briefly appear in the first episode. The woman with no eyes that Hawk and Andy find in the forest is the same person that Cooper meets when he is leaving the Black Lodge for the first time.
There's a weird mythology going on with the show. Who knows how much will actually be explained in the final episode this weekend, but at least it's internally consistent in its weirdness :)

Before all the hate commences, I'll give an FBI thumbs up for the ending. For one thing, this is Lynch and we should temper our expectations for clean logical conclusions. Also, I'm more convinced this means we're getting more Twin Peaks one way or another.
- I wouldn't necessarily count on it
http://variety.com/2…yuekit - I'm OK with that being the ending though. It felt like a fitting end from an artistic standpoint even if it didn't entirely make sense.yuekit
- That Variety article was completely inconclusive about the future.CyBrainX

haha I liked it actually.
Although the scene where the rubber handed guy fights Bob might be the most ridiculous thing ever filmed.

That was wonderful

Some very in-depth analysis of the new show here:
- i wrote a massive nerdy post about this but as usual i wont post it!
Try to keep my nerdy side to myself but that is very much incorrect. From what i can makemugwart - out. Its hard to summaries but Twin peaks is basically about the occult.
Its about magick, masonic histories and theories. 119,911, 9,666. I worked out themugwart - ending two episodes ago. Just through decoding it.
im such a nerd!mugwart - Yeah I have to say while these theories are intriguing I'm not completely sold on the idea of an ordered mythology that perfectly explains everything.yuekit
- Funny story, I had a chance to meet David Lynch briefly when he gave a talk near where I live. I was expecting the talk to be about his film making but insteadyuekit
- he spent an hour and a half discussing the benefits of transcendental meditation. Apparently meditation, subconscious and dreams are big influence on his work.yuekit
- you lucky lucky bastard. I have met so many "legends" in my years but he is the only one I genuinely care about.mugwart
- it is like lost highway.
Guy went back in time to save the life of his wife.mugwart - while I agree there is no need to follow a strict mythology. Who wants that. there is how ever too much of this to be ignored.mugwart

I have to say, and as an almost life long Lynch fan ... I currently feel he sold out on these last two.
As much as he is always painted with "surreal" and "nonsensical" films - I always found his stuff coherent if you have a mind that follows.
This show was heaven for me as it revealed his/frosts actual thinking; knowledge of occult, conspiracy, "secret" american history , etc.
Up until the end of 16 this was heaven. These last two sort of un-wrote the story he was telling, which is okay as long as its honest about the story, but this felt this was purely monetary.
He also had a really long build up to Cooper coming back - then you lost him before he had a chance to be Cooper.
He is now half Dougie and half Bob.That said, I hope he completes this story and its fucking kick arse
- Sold out or just it was different from what you thought it was going to be?yuekit
- I have a heard time seeing a monetary motive in such a random and opaque ending.yuekit
- i can handle it not being what i wanted it.mugwart
- went against what he was currently tellingmugwart
- the whole show was about honesty. the last two were not honest - at current. Hope hope I'm proven wrong!mugwart
- got a cigarette?since1979
- so many good parts to this series. Really hope there is a season 4mugwart
- got a cigarette?since1979
- got a lightmugwart
- there has to be s4. cannot end like this.renderedred
- he opened up to major threads. Laura and Audrey. They started late and told no story as of yet. There is a story afterwards just lets hope it is filmed.mugwart
