Georges, The castle is 'Paleis het Loo' - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pal…
Yeah it was so surreal.. Queensday is pretty big here in the Netherlands.. it even attracts quite a number of foreign tourists, so when you have hundreds of thousands of people in the city, who have come to basicly get pissed on alcohol and have a good time.. how do you tell them something like this has just happened!?

I've read in the news here that this man had psychological problems, lost his job, lost is home, etc, and then decides to drive a car into a crowd to hit the royal bus or whatever was going in his mind.
Reminds me a bit of those shooting rampages where clearly deranged people are projecting a lot of guilt to others and the result is tragedies like this.
Which bring us to the fact that humans are always one or two steps away from becoming brutal savages, and there's very very little you can do about it.

had my mother on the phone, she was watching it all day and is feeling really sad and moody.
so weird this has so much more impact on the dutch emotionally, probably because it was all caught live on camera from just about any perspective..
- crazy man, senseless. If he's braindead I suppose you may never know why either, which in its own way would be very hard, I'd imaginekelpie
- ...I'd imaginekelpie
- would be very what?janne76
- i jsut came in home from amsterdam "celebrations"janne76
- i read soemthing about braindead. damnit, i don't want him to die.. yet.. we must know..janne76
- my thought is that without answers and a trial this incident might leave a sort of open psychological woundkelpie
- Knowing will make more sense?Nairn
- do you get what I mean? terrible thing to happen, I hope you all can get your heads around itkelpie

wow. really? this shit happens all the time, all over the world. What's so special about this? The fact that it happened to white people, and not Arabs?
and what the fuck was he gonna do when we reached the bus? hit it a couple of times with his car, and try to kill someone before they clubbed him to death?

it was on the C4 news this evening, btw, if you are wondering if anyone outside of holland gave a fuck. It was there, I was glad to see
- thanks. that comforts. really.
i myself and even my friends in amsterdam and some english people were shocked all dayjanne76 - people = friendsjanne76
- I think if this had happened in scotland I would be dumb struck too, its such a crazy incident. the form of it y'know?kelpie
- it makes no *sense*. We're so conditioned over the last 5 years to reacting to what the "others" do "to" us, that when something like this happens it reminds us how chaotic the things people can be pushed to do arekelpie
- something like this happens it seems even more chaotic and harder to fit into even the order we construct around random, evil eventskelpie
- evil, violent events. Am I making sense?kelpie
- thanks. that comforts. really.
