Has anyone ever done work for a client that resulted with your client getting sued (ie: claims over copyright infringement, etc)?
If so, what happened? Thoughts/advice welcomed.
(ps: I do have a contact signed saying I am not liable if this event occurs)

I did 5 years in a Louisiana labor prison for copyright infringement. I do not recommend it

depends on the case, if you (suppose you are the designer) are the one who used illegal material (stock photo/clipart or typeface without paying) without telling your client, you should be the one to suffer at the very end, but then again, your cleint will be the one who getting sued 1st, then they will come to you.

Well, there was no stolen artwork/clip art involved. It's more a case of Shep vs. AP.
Basically, my contract is with Company A. They have a contract with Company B, who has a contract with Company C. Company C is the one being sued by Company D (Company D also lost out on $XXX,000 in business in the process because of Company C using Company A).
The other part of the situation is that Companies B & C basically told me to do X, Y & Z, with almost no wiggle room. And I complied.

Company A can always come back and sue you.

At the moment I don't have a lawyer, but I'm also waiting to see what is still coming. Basically it sounds like they want some information, but I don't know what that information is...

Lawyer first, give them information second.

bxcr, did you deliver something that would violate copyrights? If you did, you should have spoken up in a documented email or something.
