You folks are really good at pinpointing every minute fault in designs, so please critique me on a new site I've done for a client this week. The header (we'll call it "logo" I guess), and the functionality in general. I'm all ears, and much appreciated.

Is that their logotype? If so, can you change it? I think you should if at all possible. That's not a very good typeface. e, a, and y are especially ugly.
Sorry, but I say start over. I won't even touch the rest of the site, because it all follows after you solve the logotype and then the header.

Everything appears to be super crammed together on the Website. Let the website breathe.

@utopian, I kinda hear you, but have no idea what I should do to pull the plug and "let it breathe"...

I think "ty" was happier closer together, jay

I don't see much treatment in this logo/banner. I agree with Scotch on his critique...start over if you can. That typeface is hideous...except for maybe the lowercase "b".
That being said, I think Paris Hilton looks like the devil.

Hmmm.... well off the top of my head, some suitable serif suggestions (not necessarily similar to Friz, but suitable for a salon):
Arno Pro

Alternatively, there are a ton of sans faces that would work just as well, e.g. Gotham, Akkurat, Helvetica Neue, Univers, Bryant....
Oh and another serif that screams fashion/salon to me is Didot, but you'd need the display as well as text cuts since the display version is so thin and contrasty:

Interesting ideas Scotch, thanks. And btw folks, don't be afraid to hurt my feeling, because you won't. I'm fresh out of school with no real-life experience. I just want to get this project right.

Anything in this family would be aces for a salon:

set up the logotype + header + everything and align it to a grid. shit's kinda all over the place like señior_roman said.

- I actively enjoy going to Sephora with my wife - beauty products are highly sophisticated in their packaging and typeface uses.mikotondria3

Don't forget that your type-sense can become dulled from too rapid exposure to too many typefaces whilst searching for one that is just right.
In the same way that mastering a track will tire your ears and you'll end up with something excessively bright and clumsy - or smelling different scents, you need to sniff some coffee-beans now and again to reset your nose - don't just tirelessly scan through your fonts endlessly looking for something that 'looks right'.. Just assemble a few, actively think about what works and why, and be constructive about the way to try to nail the exact face that you need. Bear in mind that if you find one that is 90% there, then you might do very well just changing a few minor points of it 'long hand' to get the spacefilling and rhythm that you're looking for.
Just my 2c.. : /
