on 30 day terms, i state 2%... after how many days past due do you actually start charging it?
always saw it as an empty threat/ security on my invoices, never actually applied it to anything. but 5 invoices unpaid invoices approaching 60 days is starting to get tired.

start charging 30 days ago.

just pray that they actually pay you. going to court to battle it out can be a real son of a bitch. time/money spent just to get what you already have earned fairly=total bullshit.

I have 4 out right now with some approaching 90 days and I state 2% as well.

yeah? you guys all really charge it after 30? i've always considered it a bluff/ security blanket.
fck i don't even know how to calculate 2% daily. any accountants in the house?

I've yet to find one real-life example of someone dumb enough... er... willing to pay the extra charge. Like mr.13 said, it's generally enough to just get payment, then adjust your terms on any new work with that client.

I have never had to actually use it. Most were paid after a net 30 which is cool but now not so much I actually got an email back from one client who is almost 90 days delinquent that he will pay in 4-6 weeks. WTF for real....

I do not ever charge a "late fee". I am not a credit card company!
- me neither - it makes you out to be greedy i think sometimes. i understand its purpose but stillWeLoveNoise
- huh? no your not a CC but you are loaning the client your time which is worth money...inkpink
- many other businesses charge late fees, why not designers?inkpink
- Personally, I try to have a friendship with my clients. I find this builds a healthy relationship resulting in more jobs. If a client is like 40 days late I'm not gonna knit pick over a few bucks.rson
