A laser guided bullet.
Researchers at Sandia National Laboratory are developing a steerable bullet designed for general military use, giving the standard squaddie the capabilities of an advanced sniper.
Bullets that can adjust their flight have been under research for some time, and DARPA is three years into research into a steerable .50-caliber round for use by snipers dubbed EXACTO (EXtreme Accuracy Tasked Ordnance). But the Sandia system is unusual in that it relies on a smooth bore barrel to fire the projectile, rather than the rifled guns used for the last few hundred years, is intended for the average soldier to use in conjunction with existing kit. ...

http://www.newscientist.com/arti…"With advances in micro-technology, researchers were able to power the lens by printing an antenna on its surface that is only half a centimeter long. By putting a radio source close to the eye of the animal, they were able to power up the one pixel display successfully for a forty minute test. The results after the lens was taken out of the rabbit’s eye were very good, with no damage or abrasion having occurred. This experiment is a significant step forward in optical enhancement." ...
"Imagine if you could eliminate the need for screen-based devices. Instead of having to haul around a cell phone, it could be in your eye, allowing you to get live content about the person on the other end. How about media? You could watch a movie pretty much anywhere, Netflix for your eye so to speak. The possibilities really are endless, but are certainly in the future. The time when you can use a targeting system in your retina is pretty far off, but you can certainly dream about it." ...
